  • Released on 27 May 2018
  • Suggested by Checker

jPortable (formerly Java Portable) allows you to easily add a Java runtime environment to your portable device. It can be used in combination with jPortable Launcher to open Java JAR programs (many with their settings made portable) or used automatically with Java-enabled apps like PortableApps.com versions of LibreOffice and OpenOffice as well as web browsers like Chrome/Chromium, Opera, SeaMonkey and Firefox.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: None
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes
Path portability: Automatic relative path (eg. ..\..\personal\work.doc)
License: Freeware / Partially Open Source
How to extract: Download the EXE and install to the folder CommonFiles\Java relative to the applications that use Java. For example:
  • If you have installed LibreOffice to Z:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable, install Java Portable to Z:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java
  • Similarly, if you have installed the Java Portable Launcher in Z:\PortableApps\JavaPortableLauncher, install Java Portable to Z:\PortableApps\CommonFiles\Java
Java programs can be launched via batch files as well (thanks to user bro).

I've got jPortable working with X-LibreOffice as well. :)

E:\X-LibreOffice\Lib>dir /a
Volume in drive E is OHJELMAT
Volume Serial Number is A4D5-8D47

Directory of E:\X-LibreOffice\Lib

02.03.2011 20:19 <DIR> .
02.03.2011 20:19 <DIR> ..
30.01.2011 10:36 <DIR> 7za
02.03.2011 20:19 <JUNCTION> Java [E:\CommonFiles\Java]
0 File(s) 0 bytes
4 Dir(s) 12 645 406 208 bytes free

The trick is that E:\X-LibreOffice\Lib\Java is a junction that points to E:\CommonFiles\Java. This way the content of E:\CommonFiles\Java shows up in E:\X-LibreOffice\Lib\Java.

SRWare Iron v67.0.3500.0 Updated

billon on 7 Aug 2018
  • 160MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 28 Jun 2018
  • Suggested by freakazoid

SRWare Iron is a privacy-enhanced web browser based on Chromium, the open source project behind Google Chrome. By default, Iron sends out less information as compared to Chrome (e.g., creating a unique user ID or the submission of entries to Google to generate suggestions), making it potentially more privacy friendly and secure in operation.

Iron supports both official and unofficial themes and some extensions from Chrome. Additionally, to enable blocking ad servers, a 'adblock.ini' is present in the program folder, and Opera's 'urlfilter.ini' can easily be converted to Iron's accepted format by following these instructions (or see comments below).

Note: It is recommended you change the homepage. The Iron default homepage may contain ads or links to fake adware-containing downloads.

Alternative packages:

  • Iron Portable (adds password portabilization, path portabilization, registry cleanup and Java support)
  • X-Iron (idem)

Category:
System Requirements: Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? No. It creates some registry keys in 'HKCU\Software\Chromium'. Start with --incognito parameter to prevent saving history and cookies after program closes.
Unicode support: Yes
Path portability: No
License: BSD
How to extract: Download the "Portable" ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch IronPortable.exe.

XP/Vista is no longer supported but the last release version 49 is available.
Similar/alternative apps: Chromium Portable, Google Chrome Portable
What's new?
  • Several minor improvements.
  • Several API improvements.
  • Bug-/Security fixes.

Just noting that Iron Portable and SRWare Iron Portable, as well as GoogleChromePortable and X-Chromium, create these registry keys:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Google
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Google\Chrome
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Google\Chrome\Extensions

HKU\*\Software\Google
HKU\*\Software\Google\Chrome
HKU\*\Software\Google\Chrome\Extensions

Also note that the HKLM key is hidden in regedit. I can see it being created using Regshot and get to it and delete it with an alternate registry editor. I don't know how the key is protected. (Any info appreciated.)

The only Chromium browser that doesn't create these keys is Chromium Portable (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2169).

They also create the following folders/files:

C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Chromium
C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data
C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data\Crashpad
C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data\Crashpad\metadata
C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data\Crashpad\reports
C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data\Crashpad\settings.dat

ImageCacheViewer v1.15

billon on 31 Dec 2017
  • 102KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 31 Dec 2017
  • Suggested by Checker

ImageCacheViewer scans the cache of your Web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Pale Moon, SeaMonkey, Google Chrome, Chromium, Opera, Vivaldi and Yandex) and lists the images displayed in the recently visited Web sites. For every cached image file, program displays the URL of the image, browser used, image type, image and browsing date/time and file size. Selecting an image from this list shows the image in the lowe rpane and you can copy the image to the clipboard (Ctrl+M) for pasting elsewhere.

The program is useful for getting around some image protection schemes, web development testing and tracking down a specific image when you're not sure of its associated website.

Note: The author recommends closing all windows of your Web browser before using to ensure that all files are saved to the disk. Additionally, the program won't work if the browser is configured to clear its cache on closing (for privacy or space reasons).
