The latest version (v5.2.1) produces an exeption and refuses to start on my machine (Win 8.1 x64 without .NET & VC++ runtimes). Perhaps the system requirements changed? Nothing mentioned in the changelog.

webfork on 2019-01-27 13:09

It doesn't have functionality far in advance of other editors, but the interface is great. There are big, clear icons, themes, easy tabbed interface, and a really smooth options menu. If you think text editors are supposed to be functional rather than friendly, this might not be your cup of tea. Otherwise...

Nice. The best text compare Ive ever seen. And mainly because of the trim-left/right.

DSynchronize v2.48.16 Updated

billon on 30 Nov 2020
  • 2MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 30 Nov 2020
  • Suggested by milentechie

DSynchronize lets you copy, move, or synchronize folders on your computer or over a network. The program can sync in both directions, making both folders up-to-date with the latest data, do realtime sync where any changes copied to destination and even verify it's transfers. The program can schedule operations, add timestamps to the destination folder and keep multiple backups (iterations).

If in use, the program can even eject a USB device when an operation is complete.

WARNING: DSynchronize is meant for power users! By default the program does not send deleted files to the Recycle Bin, but are instead deleted outright. Use caution in initial sync tests with sensitive data.

Sinchu: Emphasizing that I've used Dsyncronize for years and it's definitely my go-to sync program, I acknowledge any program that deletes files should probably send them by default to the recycle bin. I've added something to the entry.

Whitelist on 2019-06-17 16:01

Webfork: I had the same problem as sinchu. The program deleted around 500gbs of data overnight. Is there any way I could get this data back? I'm not super knowledgeable in IT but I have a general understanding of how things work. Is there a specific software I could use to get the data back since I don't have any previous versions of the data to restore. Thank you.

webfork on 2019-06-19 09:40

@Whitelist: I recommend you post in forums about that. Short version: disconnect the drive that lost data until you're ready to test and look into data recovery programs such as Recuva.

Defender does not like 4.5 either. Tried 32 and 64 bit, neither will run. Standing with 4.3 64-bit.

webfork on 2019-04-26 21:13

@PAFuser - I'd recommend running it past VirusTotal rather than relying on Defender. It's very likely a false positive.

MoisheP on 2020-02-05 19:40

Finally, v. 4.8 can be installed on Windows without being aborted by Defender and it is no longer flagged by VirusTotalcom engines. The last two versions had been unusable for those reasons.
