nice and easy ftp server with all the necessary features. +++

Webfork on 2007-08-06 18:12

Working link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ftpserv

This project has not been updated since late 2003. This *may* mean there are unpatched security vulnerabilities. Use at your own risk or for temporary transfers. Consider the super-simple Baby FTP Server
http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=449 or the non-portable Filezilla Server http://filezilla.sf.net

Orme on 2010-12-04 07:59

In fact, as a long-time user of TypSoft FTP server for quick temporary transferts, I reverted to version 1.00 because 1.10 and the short lived 1.11 patch ( TypSoft site was hijacked shortly after its release ) had problems if you did not have a genuine FTP client for browsing, while 1.00 still allows explorers and firefoxes as clients.

Save2FTP is designed for an automatic online backup of your important data to remote FTP servers. It will help you organize your backups and schedule automatic backups. It supports inclusion and exclusion of files by wildcard mask as well as by exact file name, and keeps detailed logs of all backup operations. It includes a scheduler for unattended auto-backup and scheduling of any specific time or date, day of the week or month. It also allows you to create incremental backups so you only need to backup files that have changed.

Note: The freeware version of Save2FTP no longer appears to be available. This entry therefore links to the direct download of the most recent version. Thanks to MarcosJC for sending over v2.1. If there's anything newer, please post on the forum thread.

If you like to localize to your language, you will find a
translation package at: http://avpsoft.com/products/ftp-backup-freeware-save2ftp/
There is also a language pack for german and dutch.
I tried 'german' with V2.5 and it worked fine.

Andrew Lee on 2009-06-26 06:19

@Humbleside: Thanks for the official link to the freeware version. I downloaded and tried it. Although it says the version is "1.9", when you run the installer it says "2.1". And the version info in the EXE says "2.1.2.2042". So I will remove the direct download and point the links to the official ones.

Andrew Lee on 2009-06-26 06:21

@Checker: Thanks for the link. However, as I am unable to verify the authenticity of the software (eg. is it a cracked version), I will continue to point to the official links supplied by Humbleside.

of course !
I wish I could convince Adobe to offer a "nagware" version of (let say) "Photoshop"

What it's done here it's a bit childish; if the application is not good erase the thing, if it is good just accept it as it is, but do not distribute buggy ancient versions.

I registered just to comment this. Should one use tftpd instead? The term is searchable though it seems very generic, in case this URL isn't allowed: https://pjo2.github.io/tftpd64/

The program looks very similar but I've been using this since the XP days. It doesn't do http but does everything else. DNS and Syslog aren't enabled by default so they aren't in the screenshot. I use HFS for well, http file severing. I can say that I have had issues setting it up but I've never read the docs but once I get my config done, I'm done. I've used it for PXE and when those devices just need a tfpt target for firmware updates.

I might submit this program later. (I'm at work and I'm lazy)

The "No VLC" and "Full" versions differ significantly in size:
"No VLC"- 27.0 MB (28,334,764 bytes) uncompressed
"Full"- 109 MB (115,235,866 bytes) uncompressed

Unless they have very specific needs, most 'portablists' should go with the "No VLC" version -- and get portable VLC if they need it...

i.FTP is indeed portable. it doesnt have the ability to see symbolic link directories on the remote server. it thinks they are files. its annoying that when you select port 22 that it doesnt auto-detect that its FTP over SSH. i cant use this piece of junk. FileZilla is way better.

Jon Wright on 2010-04-21 10:26

Very basic but you might want to add it to your collection. Filezilla can't handle certain public wifi setups whereas i.FPT can.

outskirter on 2012-11-18 19:32

I realize I'm pretty late with this comment, but I've discovered a couple of annoying bugs in version 2.21 (which I've reported to the author), and eliminated them by downgrading to 2.11. Otherwise this is a very nice FTP client; portable, nicely laid out, and easy on resources.

An excellent basic HTML editor for new and intermediate Web page authors. Although the program has a few bugs here and there, it is easily one of the best free (non-text only) Web page editors available. Its cross-platform nature (windows, linux, mac) means you'll be able to edit your files no matter where you are.

Because NVU was never updated after its initial creation, a successor with some bug fixes and additional features is the also portable KompoZer: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1209

I am pretty ticked off at this program. I installed it, and did not like it at all. Tried to UNinstall it, and very tough. It's not on the Windows menu, no where in the XP add / remove control panel. I am using Norton, which will hopefully uninstall all of it from the registry.

Until there is an easy way to uninstall this program, absolutely beware.

Uh, Jon? *None* of the programs listed on this site can be uninstalled; you just delete them when you don't want them any more.

uh, Pikadude, FreeCommander can be uninstalled. Shows up in the control panel and has an uninstall routine. Beware of Alt Commander. Do not trust a program that does not offer uninstall or document what was done in the installation process.

It's me again, just wanted to tell you about the newest version released today, which features a program launcher like Launchy/Exekutor with many integrated plugins, among other things.

News post with screenshot of launcher: http://code.google.com/p/7plus/wiki/News20101101

Chris on 2011-04-19 08:47

As an additional information, 7plus supports running in portable mode by running it with "-portable" command line. Admin permissions are requested on startup by default, but 7plus will also run without them and you can disable the elevation dialog in the settings, at the cost of some missing features.

dilentec on 2013-01-23 11:39

First, thanks Chris for such a complete piece of software. It makes a lot of thigs easier to many of us. For feedback I keep getting the "No file access to settings files in 7Plus directory. 7Plus will not be able to store settings." error when running from command line with -portable argument on version 2.5.0. (both x86 and x64). This issue appeared fixed on hithub, but seems to remain. Thanks for your time.
