v1.12
14 November 2011 (Time to open the lid that was previously closed)
Fixed
A minor mishap caused the Window Snap flag to not be stored properly in memory during operation which would still pop the window into place (if placed on top of Taskbar area). If you have problems that FloatLED stills falls behind the taskbar area (when you click it), make sure you also check the “Make window persistant” flag as Windows7 seems to have a more aggressive “make-me-on-top-situation”.
Notice
Since I was happily and just recently married on 8 Oct 2011, we could finally relax and go back to normal days, which let me still do some minor tweaks on the best software LED drive activity around :-)
See the file http://www.stone-oakvalley-studios.com/software/readme_v1.12.pdf from page 9 on for older changelogs. |

Yes confirmed. It is generating a constant stream of internet traffic over port 445. That one is related to the smb protocol. |

Nice util!!! However it overwrites my DBF file (i.e. it still works, but the file is not identical to what it was before opening it with DBF Viewer Plus). If I set the DBF file to read-only, it says "access denied", and won't open it. That's not really acceptable in my book!!! |

The identical problem that Andrew Lee is having is exhibited on my WinXP SP2 PC... Otherwise javascript and image features work well...

I emailed the author, and here's his reply: "I'm not sure what happened there. I've re-uploaded it to my website and it seems to be fine now." I have downloaded it again and it seems to be working fine too.

Optical Info detects and displays the read/write capabilities of any CD/DVD drive. This is useful because such drives don't often display their capabilities in the front panel, or the information may be blocked by the PC casing. The utility allows you to select a CD/DVD drive by drive letter for analysis.

I prefer "Nero Info Tool" instead because it displays more precise information about read/write modi of your cd/dvd burner, e.g. TAO/SAO/DAO etc. Along this you have some other useful information about drivers/ASPI/ide controllers etc. |

This is an extremely fast launching tabbed editor. Although light on features, it's very good for quickly scanning files and makes a good notepad replacement.

It seems that Extreme Editor has been abandoned long time ago. It's minimalistic and extremely light but lacks essential features such as URL detection and encoding (it is useless with Unicode characters). |
SpeQ is a lightweight, extensive mathematics program with a simple interface. All calculations are entered in a sheet, where you can add, edit and execute all calculations. You can define variables and functions, as well as plot graphs of your functions.
Calculations can be saved for later use.

SpeQ Mathematics 3.4 (Released 2010-04-07) (new) Function Run(filename) added, which evaluates the contents of a speq file. This way you can easily include a file with your own commonly used variables, functions, and units into all of your worksheets. (new) Function AddUnit(name {, relation}{,prefixtype}). You can now add your own custom units too. (new) Operator In for units, "x In unit". This operator is the same as function Convert(x, unit). The operator In supports lists, and the function Convert not. Example usage: "5.1 Inch In Meter", "10 °C In °F", etc. (new) Function fnSolve(f(x) {, x} {, xstart}), to find zero points of a function. (new) Binary SI units for calculations with bits and bytes. (new) Units fully support exponent suffixes now, fore example "mm2" is interpreted as square millimeter, and "m3" as cubic meter. (new) Added units: Angstrom, mil, sqmil. (changed) Implicit multiplications with units now have lower precedence than explicit multiplication and division. So for example "12V/6A" is now calculated as "(12*V)/(6*A) = 2 Ohm" instead of "((12*V)/6)*A = 2 W". (changed) Function factorial (x!) is now much faster for decimal values. (changed) Some changes in the arrangement of functions and units in the Functions window. (changed) The accuracy optimizer is improved. For example Cos(90 deg) now gives 0 instead of 7.273641325e-16. (changed) Adding and subtracting temperatures is now only allowed with the same temperature scale (for example 20 Celsius + 5 Celsius) or in Kelvin (for example 20 Celsius + 5 Kelvin), to prevent conversion issues. (changed) SpeQ uses a different degree (°) character now, which is supported by more different fonts and by the web. This character is not backwards compatible. (fixed) Bug with calculating Atan2 and Arg when Angles was set to Degrees or Gradians. (fixed) SpeQ crashed when you opened more than 9 functions in one graph. (fixed) Some problems with non-Western fonts. (fixed) Units: small rounding error in the unit foot and mile. (fixed) Units Litre and L now support prefixes. (fixed) Problem loading files with a dot in the name. (fixed) SpeQ checks now at startup whether the stored window position fits in the current screen dimensions. If not, the position is adjusted. (fixed) Various stability issues, and other small improvements. |

This is a true gem in my collection. I don't quite like recent versions (feature creep), but I still use it for 95% of my day to day calculations/graphing.

Lots of programming block makes it somewhat confusing to younger children, and only elementary mathematical blocks are implemented (no square root, to trigonometry) which limits your options. On the other hand, storytelling elements (like text ballons) are numerous. The only program that comes close to Scratch is Drape (Logo variant that uses icons instead of commands), and it's pretty hard to find nowdays.
