@loin2kolpotoru
You are right. However, both 1.2 & 1.3 versions of NotePad SX are incompatible with Windows 8 (the program's GUI doesn't display correctly).
v1.2
NotePad SX is no longer freeware it should be removed from the database. The current download is of version 1.3 which is 14 day trial.

Where are the toolbar icons and why do some not work?.
Still trying to figure out how it calculated the "Column" value in the status bar... That's a pretty big screw up if you ask me.
I experienced the strange phenomenon that this editor would only open in maximized mode and could not be made smaller. But after editing the notepad.ini file just once (enter some lower values for Width and Height), the editor can now be drawn to any size and toggled to maximized mode, as should be. Width and Height now take the values of the size you chose for the window by drawing at its corners.
Notepad SX (http://www.rf1.net/software/notepad) is freeware but it is no longer developed and does not work properly on modern OS (at least on Windows 8- even compatibility mode doesn't help).
Notepad SX Pro (http://www.rf1.net/software/notepad_pro) is commercial.
