LingoPad is an offline dictionary program. It loads a German-English dictionary by default, but other dictionaries (German-Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, Turkish, Norwegian) can be downloaded as well. You can also import your own wordlists and use them in parallel with the existing dictionaries. For each dictionary, a user dictionary can be defined to include additional wordlists.

Runs on:Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista
Writes settings to: Application folder. The file readonly.txt makes the program writes settings to options.ini in the application folder, but not all settings are saved.
Unicode support: Yes
License: Freeware
How to extract:
  1. Download the installer and extract using Universal Extractor to a folder of your choice
  2. The application files are in the {app} folder
  3. You should delete readme,1.txt and rename readme,2.txt to readme.txt
  4. You should also delete unicows.pdb to save space
  5. Launch LingoPad.exe
By default, the user interface is German. You can change that by selecting Programm, Sprache, English.
What's new?
  • Changes for Windows Vista.
  • Customized setup (select data directory on setup).

Access violation at address 004BFAC7 in module 'LingoPad.exe'. Read of address 00000000.
Anyone else experiencing this?

I followed the instructions given, but the app will not work; I keep getting error messages. Any ideas?

The file readonly.txt prevents that the programm writes anything outside of the application folder. If a file with this name is in the application folder than there will be no other data writing outside of the application folder. The statemet concerning the file readonly.txt in the description above is wrong.
