I Love Avidemux but version 2.5.6 is the last version which support directstream copy of avi files so i don't use the new versions but otherwise it is one of the best programs available for cutting video.

Avidemux doesn't just cut avi videos like knife cuts through butter, it also joins (appends) segments together, quickly and easily. For simple and easy editing of avi video files it is so much better than Virtual Dub, which takes ages with recoding.

You don't need a portable launcher (paf, x-launcher, etc.) 'cause the program is natively portable: rename "avidemux.exe" into "avidemux_portable.exe" and you're set :)

Btw, The first step is to extract (e.g. universal extractor) the installer "avidemux_2.6.13.exe"

@shnbwmn Ok.
Btw, in the forum you wrote "Stealth: No. Qt keys in registry", but to me is stealth, no qt (troll tech) keys left.

@Siegfried Thanks for doing that. I just retested and found that the Qt keys:

* are indeed present when opening a file and interacting with the interface (normal operation of program)
* aren't present if the program is simply opened and then closed.

VirusTotal lists the main archive (avidemux_2.6.19_win64.exe) and some of the DLL's as possible malware. This might be due to excessively pessimistic heuristics used by some of the analysis programs, but this should be addressed by Avidemux developers.

smaragdus 2017-03-31 23:47

You are totally wrong. False positives should be addressed by crappy anti-virus vendors.

MIKLO 2017-04-29 16:52

I gotta agree with @smaragdus its up to the anti-virus developer to correct their mistake naming something as malware or anything bad when in fact it is not! I have used this software for quite some time and really like and its easy to use & works great.

There is a v2.6.21, only for x64.
"same as 2.6.20 with x265 encoder fixed on win64"
