Public DNS Server Tool v2.1

Midas on 18 Mar 2014

Public DNS Server Tool is a small utility for easily changing the DNS server. Although there are many reasons to make this change, the program was created to help change your DNS to one of a variety of available public DNS servers. These frequently provide increased security, protection, and/or speed versus your ISP.

System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8
Writes settings to: None
Stealth: ? Yes
License: Freeware
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch PublicDNS.exe.
What's new?
  • now reads servers from servers.ini that should be in same folder as this program
  • if servers.ini is not found, then creates a default one
  • updated public DNS servers for the default servers.ini file
  • removed descriptions for servers, as they are not much needed
  • fixed bug of recycling DNS service even when a user clicked 'no'

Straight-forward but doesn't reset to original DNS. Still needs improvement.

Compared with this tool, I feel DNSJumper is more user-friendly and it also allows you to add custom DNS address, reset DNS address to original and test fastest DNS to use.
