Memory Booster v1.9.5.1959

Checker on 11 Jan 2015

Memory Booster is a lightweight RAM optimization tool, with RAM and CPU usage histogram. The program frees up memory in RAM by sending messages to Windows to clean up the workspace and for processes it no longer needs (Clear Processes Working Set). It is not a placebo memory optimization engine and will not force any memory out of RAM. Will continue to run periodically in the background to help improve the speed and the stability of your system.

It screwed my PC! I ran it and my screen blacked out! The programs were running because I was able to open a DOS prompt (typed Win-R > cmd > alt-Enter) and enter the shutdown -r -f to restart my PC (luckly it nothing was lost, I hope).

So stay away from this software!!!!

Well, I think something else screwed up your PC. This uses a safe API call and is the safest way of optimizing your Memory. Maybe you have a virus or something. Please tell us more.

If you're searching with a true, an advanced memory manager, try CleanMem, it has an innovative approach to memory handling that really works. Read all about it at
On my 1GB RAM system it is an angel :)

RobZuc 2010-03-01 11:44

I also tried RamRush (; it seemed better on my tests (Win XP SP2, 520kb Ram).

I've been using this memory booster since and it's worked fantastically on my XP Home netbook (1gb) giving me about 600-700mbs free when running multiple apps (Opera which handles memory very well, video work, editor, 3rd-party firewall, virus scanner and a host of other always-on apps).

It's true what the author says about other memory boosters *forcing* optimization, as I have tried a few. These forced optimizations only lead to system slow-downs and you wind up filling your RAM again.

Highly recommended portable app. The latest update adds additional info (cpu usage, pagefile, virtual memory) but removes a number I always liked looking at... amount of memory available. You actually have to do the math (RAM usage 425 MB / 1015 MB (42%) or 1015-475=590). Intend to look at the recommendations listed above by Transcontinental and RobZuc for comparison.

MemBooster uses between 625KBs and 3MBs as it does its' work.

unique portable application.

the only negative aspect is they use WUpload, a file-sharing website, to host their files. It just seems unprofessional for an official author to go this route.

Not to mention there's a 5 minute wait per download.

And there's no description, just a download link for their products.

The file sharing site option also bothered me, but apparently it's a temporary solution while they're migrating the whole site to a new home.

freakazoid 2011-07-07 20:20

Download is now hosted on their site.

freakazoid 2011-07-07 20:29

Just tested the program, looks effective, but the commit charge (the value in Windows Task Manager) doesn't really change.

Magibon 2011-07-08 12:08

@ freakazoid
i just noticed as well..

The website now looks professional, with descriptive descriptions :)

How to start Minimized to tray??

I have tried a few, but it will not even start with '\MIN' etc

If anyone knows this would be nice to share in comments.

I have left a comment at the developers website but it has not been approved yet (8/01/11@5:09pm).

Lenmaer said"There is still a bug in this version.
Every time your start it, the play sounds are selected again. It's rather annoying to everytime have to go the option and deselect them. "

I can confirm this bug report.
I can also confirm setting the INI file to read only with sounds turned off in settings still will not affect the outcome the application ignores this setting in the INI file
