NoteCase is a hierarchical note manager (or outliner) that helps you organize text notes in a tree-like structure within a single document. You can optionally encrypt the document with a passphrase for privacy reasons.

Note: Discontinued. There is a lite version of its successor "NoteCase Pro" here.

Category:
Runs on:WinAll
Writes settings to: Application folder. It does write some GTK-related settings in the user profile folder (eg. last folder accessed), but that does not affect its portability.
Stealth: ? No
License: BSD
How to extract: Download the "portable" ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch NotecaseLauncher.exe.

notecase is a solid program I've used for about 2 years. no easter eggs, tom; it's GTK made portable, which GTK isn't supposed to do. This guy figured out how. notecase is crossplatform. if you're always going to be an M$ drone, then you don't care and should maybe keep quiet; otherwise, don't knock it Until you try it.

I didn't even bother to download this because, well, the portable version is friggin' 9.46 MB! Yeah, for an outliner. There must be a full-blown 3D FPS game as an easter egg in there somewhere ;).

The Guide is superior and simply much nicer... fully portable too!

These X-people must be crazy. 12,5MB GTK for a little note taking app? On top it is buggy, the GUI is ugly, no thanks.

Keynote and totaltext have more features, look nicer, and are far smaller.

Does not work, even with portable-win download...

Click on the "Download" link for this entry, then click on the link for "notecase-1.5.2_portable-win.zip". That's it!

Depend on GTK. 12.8MB on disk. GTK occupies 11.9MB.
