Does this work with the new classic? They changed it so only itunes works with it and all the third party stuff needs to be updated. And, well, since this is updated, I was just wondering.

Works very nicely on ubuntu (fiesty)linux ...
only downside is that floola presumes you want to transfer the converted videos straight to the ipod.

I was hoping to be able to have the converted videos stored in another folder on my computer.

Floola is an excellent alternative to 'iTunes' and though it doesn't have all the features, (yet), I find it much easier to use.
I recommend it for anyone who's 'fed up' with 'iTunes'.

How does it compare with YamiPod? Any comments?

Awesome sound output!!!!!!
perfect for trance and the likes!!!
i'm amaze with its sound quality! giving the best in deep bass!

9/10 quality for free!

Floola is a far, far better program in practice, although I preferred the YamiPod program's simplicity. Floola just works and works better.

Dear Mad-tune 2008-03-21 19:51

Audio "sound quality" perception is all in the EQ. Even the guys at Foobar are candid about this. You just like the way Foobar equalizes things at best. More likely, its just placebo.

It is important to note that this will not work unless you have previously installed iTunes or Quicktime. Software cannot be installed by users on my work computers, which is why I use portable versions of many programs. Just my $0.02

Hi J44xm,
I tried 'YamiPod' but, although it looks similar, 'Floola' beats the pants off it as far as i'm concerned.
You should try a comparison for yourself for the best view.

When using Floola to transfer several large videos at once I find Floola mangles the transfers and the videos won't play. If I send each video indivually it does work. Even with this it is a great tool to have on your ipod so you can add/remove media wherever you are.

I am trying to use Floola but I get the message I pod not connected...? why?

vondemort 2008-07-22 05:07

There is also an alternative called Sharepod (also portable)

I find that it transfers videos much better than Floola.

jwinter 2008-08-11 09:10

Hi Culeb, I drag and drop floola.exe onto my Ipod and then double-click it when it is there. Since it has then been invoked *from* the Ipod itself, it shouldn't be able to say "Ipod not connected" should it!

Just FYI, Floola fried the ID3 tags of a few hundreds of mine a few months ago when I used the option to back up my album art to the files themselves. Maybe it was a freak accident or something--and I had no other major issues with it--but I recommend backing up everything before trying this function.

Rick 2008-10-06 02:10

I had the same problem with the latest Floola. Previous one worked fine, but the new one deleted ALL of my album artwork when it was supposed to be backing it up!

Yamipod is only for audio.
Floola may be used for audio and video. Although, you may want to add just one video at a time for it will do something that will not allow your ipod to play the video. Weird but still a good alternative for the HUGE iTunes install.
Good for computers you don't have administrator rights in.

This is why I don't like iPods, they have a large storage for a lot of songs but they require separate software to use it, why can't they just act like USB storages where you can synchronize the files from windows or your favorite backup & sync software.

i have used floola for a few mounts and i love it.. then it started deleting my database on ipod for no reason. Now every time i start floola it is deleting all my songs and videos from ipod. But only from database.
i backup my database and restore (itunes.db file) after floola crash... but i can not use it anymore..
Even winamp works better for me.
But i try to stick with itunes because it is more stable. i find it dangerous playing with my i tunes database with alternative programs.

ClayG 2009-10-20 01:29

Buggy as hell, works pretty good when it actually connects....and then does it's ungodly long database update. Besides that it's ok.

Try CopyTrans Manager. Works with all iPods and iPhone + iTunes 9 and free http://www.copytrans.net/copytransmanager.php

Billy Bob 2010-03-12 16:57

The download link for Windows still goes to the previous (5.4) version

newbie 2010-03-17 03:01

i tried using floola but it keeps saying ipod not connected when it is,how am i supposed to use it?

Portable Paul 2010-04-07 19:44

Amen "a"! I don't buy mp3 players that don't function without extra software. Sandisk sansa clip & Bestbuy Insignia sport.

portFreeUser 2010-07-11 23:36

Yeah it's true you need iTunes and tons of it's embedded .MSI's to run this. Not good for a DAW computer because of the services that get installed and run.

cavvac 2010-08-17 20:08

Use Sharepod is the best, works with all iPods, iPhones without iTunes, any user in any pc. Free.

Gigi 2010-10-30 13:30

Floola deleted all of my music off my iPod, and now it won't even open. I'm using a Korean computer that won't download iTunes properly, so could that be a problem? Is there any way to get my music back?

webfork 2010-10-31 20:37

Gigi:You'll probably want to look at or post to Floola's forum for help with that: http://www.floola.com/home/myforum/

Emka 2011-12-25 15:37

The homepage mentions a version for use with an iPod and one just for use on a PC.
