Opera is built on Chromium, the open-source version of Chrome, and as well as having its own extensions is compatible with most Chrome extensions (but not Chrome Applications).
The reference to the older version of Opera (v12) should also identify that it also lacks many of the modern features that are only available in the newer versions, e.g. Chrome compatibility, built in ad-blocker and free VPN, etc.

jcaiken: Thanks for the suggestions but these entries really aim to just be a summary of the application. There's really no way to make sure we're highlighting all the tech, features, and difference from other applications, but you're right that the ad-bocking by default is notable so I'll add that in.

Also, should note that the included "VPN" is really just a proxy.

Like Opera, just wish it did not updates every week. Another today, never know what is updated, security, or unimportant.

FileOptimizer v13.70 Updated

billon on 22 Mar 2019
  • 194MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 22 Mar 2019
  • Suggested by I am Baas

FileOptimizer is a broad format file compression tool used to reduce file size without changing the quality, known as "lossless." This is done via wide variety of optimization and recompression tools and techniques. Original files are sent to the recycle bin for restoration in the event the uncompressed version is preferred. A long list of supported formats include audio/video (MP3, OGG, M4A), image (GIF, JPEG, PNG), office formats (DOCX, XLSX, ODT, PDF) and system files (DLL, EXE).

Supports drag-and-drop of files into the window or onto the program icon. Note that by default the program removes metadata for many file types. This information reduces overall file size and protects privacy but is important to some users (e.g. photographers) and file search tools.

A 64-bit version is available within the folder, the author reports the program is functional in WINE, and can be used on the command line.

Category:
System Requirements: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10 / Wine
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes
License: GNU AGPL
How to extract: Download the self-extracting 7z package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch FileOptimizer32.exe or FileOptimizer64.exe (for 64-bit OS).

Optionally, to save space:
  • 32-bit systems: delete FileOptimizer64.exe and the \Plugins64 folder
  • 64-bit systems: delete FileOptimizer32.exe and the \Plugins32 folder
  • Delete unnecessary language files

Well, actually, the files from C++ runtime are really, there. Your missing DLLs api-ms-win-crt-runtime-* are indirect system dependencies which are not directly referenced by Textilosaurus binary, it seems these files can be installed with installing this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2999226/update-for-universal-c-runtime-in-windows

So it seems that your operating system is not fully up-to-date. These DLLs cannot be re-distributed with textilosaurus.exe, the only way for me could be to package runtime installers into Textilosaurus installer, but that is not really good because some users install portable Textilosaurus from zip package instead, thus, this is not a solution for them.

What do you think? I thought I could use different toolchain (mingw) to build the app for windows, but unfortunately, it is only available for x86 platform which is bad, since I prefer to deploy x64 binaries.

zorro on 2018-01-08 05:40

Well, you're right - my system is not up to date and I am not able to install the update, because my Win 8.1 is one of those that refused to install the big ("8.2") update. No problem, for most other users Textilosaurus will work fine.

smaragdus on 2018-04-19 18:08

I am glad that the developer switched to a better versioning scheme.

Nice tool. Should accept copy&pasted JSON-Data too.
Would be even better, if it could produce JSON classes for C#, VB.NET from the JSON data.

I would suggest to use online json viewer http://codebeautify.org/jsonviewer
