BiblioExpress 3.5 IS NOT Portable

#1 Post by AlephX »

BiblioExpress is a Reference Manager / Bibliographic Database Viewer

I started to write this submission because I was happy to have found a tool like this...

it´s a freeware version of a commercial application and claims to run from USB pens and from floppies too!!!

it is NOT portable: writes more than 550 entries in the registry!!
Always opens the web browser at start!

At the moment there is a version 3.5 (with installer...)
Maybe the version 2 (1999) is portable, maybe... but I dislike someone who doesn´t say the truth about its products.

Anyway... Site: http://www.biblioscape.com/biblioexpress.htm
Download: http://www.biblioexpress.com/bxp3.exe

Sorry for the unuseful message. Get it as a negative survey... :?

Moved this post to Chit-Chat where it's a bit more appropriate. I sympathize with your frustration though. 550+ entries to the registry?! With that many keys the software damn well better be either a fantastic game or making XP work with GFX hardware acceleration (like Vista without the sloppy garbage)! If a future version of this DOES become portable let us know, though that'd be one hell of an .ini!

:))) yeah!

Well, as I really disliked this one, I don´t know if I´ll follow the next (slow) development...

Maybe I can get wrong, but posts like mine (False claims in portability) could be worth a Forum section. Or maybe is it a discussion topic?
many doubts... pfffff
:)
