Thanks for the tip. I am encountering the same problem wrt getting Gmail OAuth to work with Thunderbird, and I will definitely give this a try.

Thunderbird supports OAuth though. If you've disabled cookies, you do have to enable them for OAuth to work properly. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/au ... ts-oauth20

Thanks again! I am using a not-so-recent version of Thunderbird, so maybe that's why I couldn't get it to work. Will try again, but good to know another option exists if that doesn't work.

You should upgrade OAuth should have been fully supported since TB 68.5.

Oh, then I think I might have misunderstood you.

I am using Thunderbird Portable 78.x. The problem I am having is that OAuth works, but I need to go through the browser-based authentication process every time it is restarted.

I tried all the remedies I could find on the net. I removed all the passwords and cookies, make sure cookies are accepted, started with a new IMAP profile etc. But still, every time I restart TB, it pops up the dialog from Google that asks me to give permission.

FYI, I tried the latest version of TB Portable 91.x and still getting this problem.

You probably already tried this, but did you use a fresh install and profile?

Yes, this thing pops up everytime I shutdown and restart Thunderbird Portable!

No, I updated to 91.x but with my old profile. Will give it a go and see how it works out...
