Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Google Maps Saver

#1 Post by USBman »

Hello,

I recently came across an article an article that talked about a program called Google Map Saver (GSM). GSM is freeware, (claimed to be) portable, and it allows the user to download big Google Maps directly on to their computer as image files (png, targa, bmp).

Nice find!
Saves to registry the following key:
  • [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PixelChain\GMS]
    "Activated"=dword:00000001

I think that happens if you only activate the program, I have no idea why the developer has done this? But seems a good program to combine with TrekBuddy...not a portable application but a C++ application for mobile devices.

He says: "GMS is not Crippleware. The superimposed watermark can be removed, easily, with three clicks. It is there only that you visit the About Box".
