Rainmeter

#1 Post by guinness »

So it's official out of Beta and into Stable. Rainmeter http://www.rainmeter.net/ has finally been upgrade and with a better UI, so no more editing INI files and the infamous Enigma 2.5 (if you read lifehacker) has been introduced as the main theme, not the futuristic outdated blue it once used.

Synopsis: Rainmeter is a customizable performance meter. It can display the CPU load, memory utilization, free disk space, network traffic, uptime and many other information. The data can be configured to be displayed in a histogram, a bar, as numbers etc. Rainmeter also includes a plugin interface so that it can be extended with 3rd party plugins
Version: 1.1

well you can edit INI files if you want too, maybe not the best choice of words, but for those who hate sifting through config files you can now use the integrated UI.

I've read somewhere that this is a dead project.
It's nice to see it living again :) .

I believe the UI for configuring Rainmeter is from the Enigma suite, but then I never really used it due to not having enough memory!

So the feature set on this program expanded pretty quickly. It seems you have to edit the INI file for most of the program's functions, but lord is it pretty.

I updated the screenshot, although I think the program description and categories need to be updated. I'm a little surprised that a program THIS pretty wouldn't have a clear and simple config window, which I find annoying. It also seems to run rather slow.

V2.0 released. There is no longer zip package. Is it still portable? Anyone want to make sure?
