DreamMail Chinese Problem

#1 Post by BGM »

Hi all! This is my first post in this forum. I am very impressed and pleased with Portable Freeware Collection!

I found here a program called DreamMail. It works like a dream too! I really like it, but I have a major problem with it - when I reply with DreamMail, the people who receive my email reply report that they are prompted to deal with Chinese encoding. Apparently they can read the email I send them, but this is very annoying. I have tried many email clients for my USB key and this one is THE BEST and THE FASTEST I have found. It is as fast as outlook on a desktop computer!

So, is there any way to resolve the Chinese problem? Does anyone at least have a clue or a lead? There is absolutely not support whatever for DreamMail.
Thanks - BGM

Both the DreamMail "Europe" websites are down, but the Chinese website is still available. Maybe you can find some information there?

Here's a link to it in English through Google Translate:

Code: Select all

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dreammail.org%2F&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sl=zh-CN&tl=en
However, the forum seems to say "temporarily closed". At the very least, you can get the most recent version there and see if it's fixed.

EDIT: Here's the location of the .rar of the most recent version:

Code: Select all

Thank you, ashghost, for your speedy reply! Yes, this version 4.4.1.0 is the version that I have. I had actually already translated this page to find there is nothing of service. I have looked through search-links all over for anything that had a clue; most of the freeware sites that list DreamMail use the link to the DreamMail-Europe. And DreamMail-Europe has been shut down as of August 1st - I saw a note saying that which was posted by their webmaster (the site was gone, but Google found some remnant of its last existence in its search-cache...). Too bad the authour doesn't answer email. Alas! Alas!

If you or anyone does happen to come across something of use, please add it to this post if you would. It would be greatly appreciated.

Before you start a new mail..choose Format > Code > Western European (Windows).
Hopes this will help.

And this link to : version 4.5

Nice UI..but I find no way to turn this version into full English :(
