Not portable by any means, but a good idea.

I've been looking to set up instant messaging where the messages never leave the LAN for a long time.

It writes to the registry and also the application data folder, these are specific to the user/computer and so you cannot take IntraMessenger on your USB stick to an alternative computer, as is the intention of this website.

The only way it would be added to the database is if the settings it writes to these places are trivial, i.e. window position, but I doubt it.

Mostly Google Translated, so sorry for grammar...

Thanks M@tty, now i understand.

Put a empty file options.ini in the folder (near the exe) and options will stay inside, and all folders (images, updates...) will stay in directy.

The options.ini file have been deleted from current folder,
because Vista (.....)

In regedit, its just for check last update (because use a second exe for download and apply updates).

Hope its look better for your collection...

I just finish last update (version 1.0.5.12 (1.05M) ) :
now, if you start it from a amovible disk (usb key), files will stay in current folder.

(I update the first post to)

Can extern authentication (login + password) on an existing MySQL database (forums (phpBB, vBulletin...), CMS (Joomla, MODx...), GroupWare...).
Now, have a (pdf) documentation (usage diagrams) to explain :

you can read it on the website (include in server doc).

There were some aspects to the program that really grabbed me (including mention of a portable version), but:
* No file transfert (for security).
... and yet I couldn't find anything about SSL or other types of encryption options.

Old thread update ... Possible portable alternative to what this program did: Lan Messenger

After messing with Brosix today, I went back and looked into this program a bit but it doesn't seem like something I could use.

Pros:

* Now supports both file transfer and publishing

Cons:

* Sort of a convoluted project description. Claims not to be like MSN/Skype/Jabber/Teamspeak but I couldn't find something that clearly spelled out what that means (e.g. we only care about quickly and easily connecting intranets).
* No clear analysis of encrypted traffic
* License discrepancy: the server is open and licensed under the GPL but the client is freeware.
* Changelog doesn't include recent changes: http://www.intramessenger.net/doc/changelog.html
