Why is our site icon an installer?

I mean, for a portable site, this feels like heresy. We hate installers here!

Shouldn't the favicon be a zip file or something?

Honestly can't remember why/how the icon was chosen :?:

I am not opposed to changing it for something else... what do the rest think?

There is this quote in the FAQ page:
If you have all your portable apps on a USB memory stick, you can essentially work anywhere without even having to carry your own laptop around.
So I'd like to see a site icon of a USB memory device.

P.S. the presentation link provided by webfork is dead.

We should consider :
Shouldn`t a new icon be plan and simple ?
Shouldn`t a new icon be able to be seen as a bookmark in ex chrome browser ?
Further more : The icon now is widely known

My suggestion :

Happy christmas :D

I recommend something like this:

1. Depicts both a USB and a folder.
2. Free for commercial use (with attribution).

If you're thinking a USB folder, I put together a quick one with AI: https://i.imgur.com/Nz2TZcZ.png

Or a more icon-ish one that could be colored to match the logo: https://imgur.com/a/rOYVkIF

Real talk, the site icon (favicon) does not need changing, it's a picture of software, and what's found here? Portable versions of software (shocking!). The current favicon is iconic enough, and fits with the old-school nature of the site, not everything needs to be zoomer made/web 2.0/made for mobile, etc.

This logo refresh topic indirectly came up a few years ago. I posted a few designs that I had in mind that I worked with a graphic designer on but it got declined and everyone seemed happy with the current logo. I unfortunately can't seem to find that thread.
