Hi,
Like you I was a long time user. I believe Radiosure.com and its database won't be coming back anytime soon
, the author (unknown) did not respond for years and the website was hosted in russia.
However a place to share some possible "new" RadioSure station database was recently created :
https://github.com/JazzfanRS/Radiosure-station-database
But in the last few weeks I think I've found one of the most credible alternatives to Radiosure :
QMPlay2 (from Poland) :
https://github.com/zaps166/QMPlay2/
(+) More than 30000 radios from 200 countries thanks to
https://www.radio-browser.info/ ("This is a community driven effort (like wikipedia)... Any help is appreciated!")
(+) Free and open source, supports around ten languages, runs on Windows, Mac, Linux,.. and has been regularly updated since 2011.
(+) Displays album covers on some web radios. (Other advantages: Support for Flac, Ogg, AAC,.. / Equalizer / Streaming in https / ...)
(+) It is also a complete Audio-Video player (with support for CDs, Youtube, subtitles, "HLS" streams of TV channels, ...).
(+) For a "normalization" of sound between radios, see "Dynamic Range Compression" (in the settings of the "AudioFilters" module).
(+) Possibility to install it in portable mode : create empty file portable (without file extension) near the QMPlay2.exe file.
(-) The defaut interface is not configured for "Radio" use, but some “widgets” adjustments can be made for a much better rendering.
(-) To record a radio, you must indicate the address of the stream to the "Downloader" widget or go through the Playlist -> Extensions -> Download menu.
(-) No proposal for sorting the list of favorite radio stations. (But possibility to classify them by "drag and drop" with the mouse.)
(-) The "fading" option does not seem to work when switching from one radio to another.
