Extracting the best quality images from a given web page is a common request from freeware and there are many tools for the job, but the variety of sites and frequency of changes to their structure, components, and barriers makes it difficult to keep up with. Functionality for a given site is usually a roll of the dice, and most tools in the space are commercial to help pay for all the required maintenence. Enter gallery-dl.
Similar to the popular and widely-used youtube-dl for video, gallery-dl grabbing image galleries. Cross platform.

Currently lists support for over 100 websites. While most are NSFW, many other popular services are supported, including Twitter, Tumbler, Reddit, Blogger, Photobucket, and more. Facebook is not currently supported.
