SNOW (CLI stenography tool)

#1 Post by Midas »

SNOW (Steganographic Nature Of Whitespace; http://www.darkside.com.au/snow/) looks both devilish clever and utterly alien in these days of GUIs everywhere and pervasive surveillance.
The program SNOW is used to conceal messages in ASCII text by appending whitespace to the end of lines. Because spaces and tabs are generally not visible in text viewers, the message is effectively hidden from casual observers. And if the built-in encryption is used, the message cannot be read even if it is detected.

SNOW v1.1 is available in both 16(!) and 32-bit CLI executables from the homepage. (Thanks to Tinyapps.org)

Prior to 22 November 1998 the DOS version...
How many user programs still around can say they even go back even further than that :) Judging by the source archive's date the last version is from 2013.
