Titlebar Date-Time portable:
The portable version is for advanced users.

There were requests for a version that didn't contain an install routine and/or was portable. Download TBDTportable.zip, unzip and run it. To un-install, delete the files in the TBDT directory.

All settings are saved in tbdt.ini which will be located in the same directory as TBDT.exe. (Which of course implies you must put the program in a directory that is writable.) If you prefer to have settings saved in the registry, add the -r switch on the command line.

If you want the program to start with Windows, right-click on the icon in the system tray and select "Start with Windows". (Alternatively, drag a shortcut to the startup directory.)

If you can't view the help file, right click on the help file, (TBDT.chm) select properties, then click "Unblock".

I can see this as very useful for testing work so you can easily see when you created a given image.

I also really liked how easy it was to customize the date appearance. I even got it into my preferred format:

Image

Outlook 2013 and Chrome issue: there's a LOT of blinking of the click going in and out as you move your mouse over elements in that program. Although it avoids covering up the multiple elements in the top-right corner (including a question mark and a docking button), it flickers like crazy on the rest of the program.

Wishlist:

* Ability to customize what text appears, such as program version number (again, for testing), basic watermarking (like www.portablefreeware.com), and anything else.
* Right-clicking on the bar should show a full calendar
* Currently there's a delay when clicking on a window before it appears. It would be great to be able to turn that off.
* Would like the background color to be transparent and offer text outline instead.

Old thread update: the program saw some updates earlier this year:
Version 2.27 - March 14, 2018.

Catch and silently exit when Windows Restart Manager attempts to load second second instance of program following a Windows update (this was not completely resolved in version 2.26).

Version 2.26 - January 7, 2018.

Fixed issue where, following a Windows update restart, Windows may attempt to start second instance of program.
EDIT: if this program doesn't quite work for you, there's also TicTocTitle which is one of many programs from Skrommel.
