Brave for desktop is built on top of the open-source Chromium project. We add features on top of what is already there and we also remove features or pieces of the code. These deviations we make that touch the core Chromium code are done via patching.

Forgetful Browsing is the first in a series of upcoming tools Brave has planned to continue protecting Brave users and address first-party re-identification. Starting with [currently unreleased] desktop version 1.53, and Android version 1.54, Brave browsers will include a new feature called Forgetful Browsing, which allows users to always clear cookies and other storage when the site is closed.
