hi
should be tested and if it's stealth add to database
they have a portable version
cheers
It's as portable as KeePass itself is. So it works as you move PCs and is 'stealth'. Like KeePass, it does lose your recent databases, so you can't use the recents list or have it automatically open your last database if the path to the app changes.

KeePass v2.40 portable (Zip-version) wants to make a external connection on every startup,
allthow "check for new version" is disabled. Ive looked through all avalible settings, and
cant find any that suits the problem. KeePass v2.40 wants to connect to:

Hostname: map2.hwcdn.net
IP Address: 205.185.216.42
Country: United States (US), Arizona, Phoenix

Hostname: 23.111.11.204
Country: United States (US), Arizona, Phoenix

Hostname: 93.184.221.240
Country: United Kingdom (GB) and United States (US)

I cannot see that anyone else has reported this issue.
Older versions of KeePass (2.26) does not talk out on startup.

Certificate Request=?

https://sourceforge.net/p/keepass/discu ... /e2a3f2bc/
23.111.11.204 is a IP-address of repository.certum.pl, and looks like KeePass
attempts to validate the digital signature/certificate.

log:
sent recieved
KEEPASS.EXE TCP 23.111.11.211 80 244 1855
KEEPASS.EXE TCP 23.111.11.211 80 239 1934
KEEPASS.EXE TCP 93.184.221.240 80 302 55491
KEEPASS.EXE TCP 23.111.11.204 80 129 1291

KeePass only does these connections 1nce, then never talks out again.

Not a Keypass user, but I definitely prefer my security programs not connecting with anyone or anything by default.

Status: Portable, stealth. Writes to keepassxc.ini ... test 2.4.1 on Win7x86.

Usage notes: I love that encryption settings are based on time to open. I also really like the password and passphrase generators. A lot of thought went into this.

Resource usage: The program itself is 82 megs, 20 megs of RAM, more than I'd like but sort of expected from cross-platform tools.

Wishlist
  • Drag-and-drop keyfile capability
  • 2FA support - would like to see support for one of the various open source 2FA tools out there.
  • Text file as passwords - one of the problems with key files is that if even one bit is modified, it's useless and all your data is gone. Text files (and their content) are a little easier to keep track of. If something goes awry with the file, it's easy to just focus on the text inside. To be clear, I don't know if this is a problem, it's just something that worries me about file keys.

Topic update: KeePass Classic v1.40 released 2022-01-02 (changelog at https://keepass.info/news/n220102_1.40.html).

Fun fact: This release comes exactly 18 years after the oldest release record I could find -- i.e., v0.86 released 2004-01-02 (cf. https://sourceforge.net/p/keepass/news/ ... -released/) -- although KeePass birthday is officially 2003-11-15 (see bottom of https://keepass.info/news/news_all.html).

Hi
I really love the 1.40 , but i can't understand why the option of masterpassword and keyfile is always ON
even in my database i use only a key file
i have disabled option of masterpassword and keyfile when i start it and it's always on
i use the portable version
could be confirmed ?
is it a bug?
thanks

I really don't know -- but I reckon if any option was disabled that would give any attacker clues on what to look for, a file in you case, making their task a little easier...
