Have you tried inoreader?
https://inoreader.com/
So far so good, in some aspects better than the good old Google Reader. If not in all

Had never heard of it -- but then I was also never a user of the much praised
Google Reader; will give it a whirl (ASAP)...

Desktop Ticker is a free RSS and Atom web feed aggregator application that allows you to keep an eye on the latest news from your favourite websites whilst you work on your computer. Once feeds have been added, the article titles scroll horizontally across the screen. Article summaries are displayed when the mouse cursor is placed over an article title, and the full article can be opened in a web browser by clicking on the article title. The RSS feeds are automatically downloaded after the specified interval to show updated content
Portable version.

A late thank you for that
Innoreader recommendation,
tproli: it is currently my RSS reader of choice -- it works well in the computer browser and keeps in synch with my Android devices via the dedicated client. Kudos!
