I'm a little more comfortable running programs that may mess up my machine if I set it up incorrectly, but I want the site to address a broad audience. You shouldn't have to be of a very technical mindset to use a program that simply protects privacy.

Anyway, I'll go ahead and add a note to the entry.

Hi everyone & Happy New Year To All,
Well, the first time I used PrivaZer was the last time.
It is a dangerouse tool and I'm no dummy when it comes to such tools.
Luckily, I was able to use my last restore point before I used PrivaZer.

I'm glad I was no dummy enough to be able to rescue my machine.

Take care folks and don't let tools like this bite you in the butt.

Sorry you had to deal with that. Certainly a privacy cleaning program shouldn't be breaking computers. If we get more posts like this, I'll run it on a VM that I can break without consequence. If it messes up one of my systems, I'll recommend taking the entry offline.

Can you give some details on what kind of system you're running?

Welcome to the forums.

I'm running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 with .NET 4.0.30319.

In your opinion, what app or combination there of would you recommend?

My cleanup tools are:
CCleaner - Bleachbit - GoverSoft Shellbag Analyzer Cleanup - Nirsoft Recent Files View - Nirsoft WinPrefetch View - Windows Disk Cleanup - MSIE Internet Options Cleanup - USB Oblivion

These are the tools I use the most when needed. Of course there's always the
big maintenance that has to be done now & again such as wiping free space & such.

The above might be too many tools for some folks but, I find it reassuring that
I can use these tools with peace of mind :)

Take Care.

I had used Privazer diligently in the past for cleaning my system daily after using my computer for the day. Up until version 3.0.24, that is. Then, for some explainable reason, Privazer would 'clean' the USN entries for hours. I tried version 3.0.29 (portable) one last time to see if it had fixed its problem and I made sure I screen recorded it for prosperity. I let it run overnight and stopped it the next day after it had failed to finish after over 11 hours of nonstop operation. The resulting 2GB screen recording was sped up and uploaded to YouTube. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X16HjoXaHC0

(what the hell are USN entries?)

BTW, see https://www.portablefreeware.com/index. ... mment30883 for someone called The_Privazer_Team presenting apologies for recent issues with the program. :|

I received this email from the developer of PrivaZer:
Hello Andrew,

here is the PrivaZer Team.
On the download page of PrivaZer on your website, there is a warning since 2015 because of presumed system instability reported in 2015.
This issue was fixed many years ago by us. It was due to the way Microsoft changed its upgrade process.
Would it be possible to remove this warning ?
It's here :
https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2350

Thanks,

Fladen,

The PrivaZer Team
Goversoft LLC

In light of this, I will update the entry to remove the warning.
