That is working for me, butXP. For example, if I disable splash screen and restart, that option is reset to default.
i have the same problem. In addition, under XP, when I quit the application, the window disappears, but WinMerge.exe and X-WinMerge.exe continue to exist under Task Manager until I explicitly kill WinMerge.exe.
I'have not the problem.I have problems getting it to remember the settings under both Win2K and XP. For example, if I disable splash screen and restart, that option is reset to default.

WinMerge Portable
WinMerge Portable has joined as a member of PortableApps, but WinMerge Japanese version becomes Portable version by replacing the file of WinMerge Portable with that of WinMerge Japanese version.
Exchange method
Download WinMerge Portable from http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/ ... e_portable and install it.
Rename the [ PortableApps folder \ WinMergePortable \ App \ WinMerge] folder.
Expand the Zip version (winmerge-xx-jp-x-exe.zip etc.) and copy the expanded [WinMerge] folder to the [ PortableApps folder \ WinMergePortable \ App \] folder.
That's old FAQ for version 2.14
