Dooble is a new Open Source Web browser that focuses on compactness, security, and stability. Dooble is the only Web browser that encodes a user's browsing information.

Saves settings to Documents and Settings\User Name\.dooble + Writes Trolltech keys to the registry.

Portable settings, and data is my request to the developers of Dooble.

I found a previous request here.

The response makes me think that the developers have never even heard, or thought of portable anything.



Please anyone who supports portable software comment, or post a better request.

Some notes:

• From the trolltech registry entries, I'm guessing this is QT-based like Chrome and Safari. The site isn't real clear about that.
• Its GPL'd and I like the inclusion of a file manager and FTP. There's some great Firefox plugins that do this, but a little more native support sounds like a very good thing, especially on Mac.
• Download.com gave it a somewhat tepid review

The latest version of Dooble is 1.54 and it seems that it saves all its data and settings inside its own folder. However I do not like this browser for several reasons- insufficient tabs settings, password protection is mandatory (if the user doesn't create a password Dooble doesn't save browsing data and settings on exit) and no way to import bookmarks. Once I wrote about the impossibility to import bookmarks from a HTML file but it seemed that the developers simply didn't care.

Dooble v2.1.6 released, dated 2018-01-25 (changelog at https://textbrowser.github.io/dooble/).

Now at 2022.01.15. Still writes to the registry.
