Feel free to add it. Reasons I haven't ...
  1. It only supports MD5 and my hashing needs lately are really only three things:
    • CRC32 for basic system / backup verification
    • Combination MD5, SHA1, and SHA256 for VirusTotal checks (done for posting here on the site)
    • If I do have a hash check to do, it doesn't always come in the form of MD5 so I'd like to have a tool that does more than just one check.
  2. There are a wealth of great options out right now and both Multihasher and RapidCRC Unicode have pretty much covered everything I need.
yes m5checker is the only one that can compare 2 files
select 2 file and compare
i don't know ohers tools that can do it
multihasher and rapidcrc can not compare 2 files

HashTab (Not Portable)

I really like the non portable HashTab v3.0.0 (c)2009 Cody Batt
(I have not tried more recent versions)
Free for non-commercial users

When viewing the hash of a file (via the context menu)
you can drag another file into a field marked 'Hash Comparison'

I think what you mean is that there's "Compare MD5" fuction. I generally just drag-and-drop both files into RapidCRC or Multihasher and can usually see if both of them have the same string of letters and numbers.

Again, those programs work fine for my purposes but I don't represent all our users. You're welcome to add it to the database.

Quick note to add that, in MD5 case at least, if a correctly formatted hash file* is available alongside, Teracopy (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1513) will happily do the checking.

* Known specification: duplicate filename with MD5 extension; plain text with hash, space/tab, original file name; Teracopy also groks SFV (CRC32)...

MD5Checker is a fast and lightweight tool to calculate and verify MD5 files hashes of multiple files and folders. Calculated MD5 File hashes can be saved and loaded to/from files. Support Unicode.
* Calculate and display MD5 checksum of multiple files at one time.
* Use MD5 checksum to fleetly verify whether files have been changed.
* Load, save, add, remove and update MD5 checksum conveniently.
* It is about 300 KB and does not require any installation (portable).

Md5Checker is a decent program with nice GUI but besides that it can only handle MD5 I don't like that it can't remember its window size and position. It is abandoned, but who know, perhaps one day it would pop up back to life just like CLCL did.

From the interest that this program generates it's clear that there is quite a lot of knowledge around.
Can someone please let me know who the author or software house is.
Thanks in advance.
