Just thought I'd make a thread where we share useful "internetting" tips and hacks that may not belong to a specific place.

If you want to quickly check (with some accuracy) if there is (or was) a site with a certain word in the domain or subdomain, enter it in the Wayback Machine search box.
It may help you find useful historical (or current) resources on some really obscure topics.

My 2¢, perhaps widely known and of local interest only, but worth stating:
If you need to find something in TPFC forums and the forum search isn't being helpful, add "site:portablefreeware.com/forums" to a Google query.
