Console

#1 Post by dasfx »

Console gives you a tabbed set (version 2 which is beta) of command line windows. Great if you use the command line a lot.

Not sure about Unicode or even what category it fits into.

Command line applications aren't accepted according to the FAQ. I don't know about this though. This program just acts as a command line. It could go under "Productivity>Program Launchers".

Hmm...
I don't think this really counts as a Command line app, more like a windows enhancement. I don't know, kind of a gray area.

Nah, this is a GUI app that gives you one or more consoles.

Comand-line apps have no windows and writes _to_ the console.

So, what's the status of this app? is it portable? I can't find it in database, it doesn't appear in Rejected apps either.

Re: Console2

Very old topic update: just made the present one the official forum topic for Console(2) (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=963), because it was somewhat invisible here at TPFC (only my absolute certainty that it was here and some Google-fu allowed me to find it). :mrgreen:

While development seems to have stopped in 2011, and the latest version is sometimes confusingly called Console2, IMHO, this is still a relevant freeware program, especially considering the native 64-bit releases.

For an ongoing fork of Console, check ConsoleZ:
http://github.com/cbucher/console wrote:[ConsoleZ] is a modified version of Console2 for a better experience under Windows Vista/7/8 and a better visual rendering.
ConsoleZ latest release (currently v1.13.0, dated 2015-01-25) can be downloaded from http://github.com/cbucher/console/wiki/Downloads.

@Midas
In my opinion ConsoleZ is not portable and can be moved to 'Freeware That Are Not Portable'
See this post to PortableApps -> Request apps by MichaelE https://portableapps.com/node/53387
You can see also on GitHub, at program page and You look for 'Registry' https://github.com/cbucher/console/sear ... q=registry

b.t.w.
Not yet tested for portability.

So it doesn't save to the application folder? If so we also need to take the entry down: https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=963

@webfork: I think rbon observations pertain only to ConsoleZ.

I haven't tested ConsoleZ and have only been posting update notices in order to signal that there is still some kind of development -- the last release of upstream Console(2) that is present in our database dates back from 2011.

@webfork
Yes, I don't have tested Console but I have only found a portable version on PortableApps at this link https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities ... e_portable and I have thought thas was not portable.

@Midas
Yes, I refer to ConsoleZ.

However all this it is not a problem. :lol:

Understood - thanks for the clarification.
