Launchy - Applications launcher

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Not if you donate or become an older than 6 months DC's forum member.

ARB is great for launching things, web searches ... the hdd drive searching part is done using Locate32 in my case (also from ARB).
I'm trying to use arb but have to say that adding an alias to it is MUCH harder than adding something to FARR(find and run robot) or executor etc.

Re: LaunchyQt (program & document launcher)

#17 Post by Midas »

Old topic update: the original Launchy (http://www.launchy.net/), a multi-platform program and document launcher, hasn't been updated since v2.5 released in 2010 (according to TPFC database: https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=663).

Note: there is a later v2.6 Beta 2 release listed at the site, also launched back in 2010 -- see sourceforge.net/p/launchy/discussion/871718/thread/dc44f51f/ for changes.

FYI, there is now a Qt based fork in active development named LaunchyQt:

Changelog and downloads at https://github.com/samsonwang/LaunchyQt/releases; latest release is v3.0.7, dated 2019-03-26.

LaunchyQt has two modes: installed mode and portable mode. The difference between the two is mainly on the storage location of the program configuration. When LaunchyQt starts, it checks if there is a 'config/launchy.ini' file in the software directory. If this file exists, the software will run in portable mode, otherwise the software will run in installed mode.
