PDF-XChange Viewer

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

64-bit instructions:
  1. Go to the homepage and download the EXE installer (PDFXVwer.exe) and extract to a temporary folder
  2. Move the contents of \PDFXVwer\Additional files to a folder of your choice
  3. Remove the ",2" characters from all files in this folder (e.g. PDFXCview,2.exe -> PDFXCview.exe)
  4. Create an empty text file in this folder and name it portable.dat
  5. Launch PDFXCview,2.exe
Optionally, delete XCShInfo,2.dll

(thanks Baas and joby)

I don't have a 64-bit machine to test this on at the moment so could someone confirm that?

@webfork:

You don't need XCShInfo.dll, it's shell extension for Explorer, delete it.

I wanted to try the OCR addon for PDF-Xchange Viewer from portableapps.com since the one from the official website doesn't seem to work properly (or maybe something has changed that needs to be documented).

However, the link for the OCR addon on portableapps.com is dead. @JohnTHaller - Can you fix the link?

Edit - The official link to the OCRBaseLangPack.exe is not shown on the PDF-Xchange Viewer site anymore, but you can guess the URL. Also, the instructions here are not clear enough. In order for OCR to work, a new directory named "ocrdats" needs to be created in the application directory. Then, you can copy the .lng and .dat files into this directory and PDF-Xchange Viewer will detect them. @webfork - Can you update your post?

Edit 2 - Found out that the OCR files can be found by clicking on the triangle icon on the official website followed by the Portable Version (OCR Lang Files) link. Bad accessibility :roll:
is it stealth? ;)

The link's been fixed, thanks for the heads up. The OCR files are included in our default package now. The help file isn't, though.
