Teamspeak - cross-platform VoIP

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Teamspeak - cross-platform VoIP

#1 Post by Firewrath »

So I randomly ran across this while looking at this Minecraft game that people have been telling me about.
(Hopefully if I get it my lack of constant internet wont be an issue. But. Idk yet. *Hrm* wonder if theres a portable version of the game........)

ANYways.

I seen this on a Teamspeak thread:
Stefan1200 wrote:You can install TS3 on a USB stick, just select global configuration while installation. Anything should be saved on the USB stick.
And the installer Does have a 'Save settings inside the installation folder' for the client,
but i'm unable to test if this would make it portable enough for the site, Or if the server is portable either,

So i thought id throw it up here for anyone that might want to look into it,

Eidt: opps

When I tested TeamSpeak 3 it saved the settings in "config" subfolder.
It wasn't stealth, but I can't remember why.

I use it rarely and I'm very happy with it. Great program!

Teamspeak was mentioned specifically in the forums 4 years ago and has come up a few other times as well, so there's clearly a few people over time who would have been glad to have this. Hopefully its really portable but glad to hear they are at least trying to address portable users.

I started TeamSpeak 3 today and it asked for permission to update some registry keys.
Nice for it to ask, isn't it? :)

I'm sorry I wasn't inspired enough to quickly make a screenshot!

It writes [HKLM\software\TeamSpeak 3 Client], [HKCU\software\TeamSpeak 3 Client] and [HKCU\software\Trolltech]. Not important settings, but still ... not stealth.

Tested Teamspeak Client 64-bit 3.0.19.4 on Windows 10: still portable, still not stealth.

Seems to work well and has a remarkable number of features. Unfortunately the server system is a little unclear to me (there's a default server that seems fairly limited) and I couldn't figure out how to enable Voice encryption.

Anyway I did a little update to the entry. Hope that helps.

@joby_toss
Normally I would have just voted to make the entry public but I read the Note you kindly provided and I was discouraged. I presume that the lack of privacy is not an issue for Windows 10 users but for me it is- I would not touch a program that records my clicks, my IP, my hardware.
