Winja : Multi-Antivirus Engine Scanner

Successor of Phrozen VirusTotal is finally there!

We know, most of you have been waiting expectantly for quite a long time for the successor of our hugely successful Phrozen VirusTotal Uploader. We are proud to announce that we can finally announce the news: Winja – short for Windows Ninja – is much more than an advanced uploader for a Multi-Antivirus Engine Scanner.

The program was recoded from scratch and applies VirusTotal API’s in a more optimized and sophisticated way to save network resources and time. The program now checks for a previous existence of a scan in the archives of VirusTotal before uploading the file itself. Naturally, we offer an option to rescan a file to get a more recent check of available Anti-virus databases.

The program is also completely redesigned to meet our highest standards and our novel Phrozen Material Component Set combines the style of Google Material and Windows 10 graphical trends.
The program now offers crispy clean and very user-friendly design that operates also very smooth, effective and efficient even on older computers.

The program is designed so that even inexperienced computer users can effortlessly operate Winja.
This is a cool application for uploading files to scan for viruses and malware
Its just a release candidate and still being tested for bugs.
It can also scan running processes.
They plan on updating with plugins to expand its capabilities.

Unfortunately it stores its settings in the registry:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\PhrozenWinja]

Its not portable ( yet) but definitely one to keep an eye on.

Very interesting stuff. I'll await the portable version to test. It's especially interesting as a while back I came up with an idea for a very low resource usage virus checker that this might represent...

Idea:

Something running in the background on a given folder (presumably your download folder) and all the subfolders. Anytime an EXE or ZIP file appears (and any other you'd like), it checks with the VirusTotal website and prompts you if it finds a problem with a given threshold (e.g. 3/55 is okay but 10/55 gives you a warning).

The program would need to be very low resource usage and run at low enough process priority not to get in your way but not so low that it misses evaluation of something you just downloaded. (I recognize this is not an easy problem to solve and in fact may have no easy solution.) The program would be nice if you didn’t like AV programs or for the very paranoid that want more than one AV service at work on their machine.

It would unfortunately require an internet connection.
