DSpeech - text to voice

#1 Post by AlephX »

Dspeech (ca. 600 kb)

Site: http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/index.html
Download: http://dimio.altervista.org/stats/download.php?id=6

DSpeech is a Text To Speech program with functionality of ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) integrated. It is able to to read aloud the written text and choose the sentences to be pronounced based upon the vocal answers of the user.

It can create Audiobooks in a simple way, based on test files with tags.

DSpeech does not install itself, is very light, starts in a second and doesn't write anything to the registry.

The Web page has links to speech engines and voice sets.

Some features of DSpeech are:

1. save the output as a .WAV or .MP3 file.
2. quickly select different voices, even combine them, or juxtapose them in order to create dialogues among different voices.
3. vocal recognition system that, through a simple script language, allows you to create interactive dialogues with the user.
4. configure the voices in an independent way.
5. TAGs: dynamically change the features of the voices during the playback (speed, volume and frequency), insert pauses, emphasize specific words, or even to spell them out.
6. capture and reproduce the content of the ClipBoard.
7. compatible with all vocal engines (SAPI 4-5 compliant).
8. AI dialog system. Not really useful, but amusing. It does not work in every language.

To open PDF files, you must download the DSpeech PDF Plug-In (ca 250 KB).

On Windows XP, if you want use SAPI4 voices, you must install SAPI4.

On Windows NT4/2000 you must install SAPI5.

On Windows NT4/2000/XP, if you want use the Speech Recognition features, you must install the MS-Recognition Engine as well.

[edit: canceled version number, as requested by Midas 11 15 2013]

Hi, I would like to re-post this application.

Indeed it does not require anything to be installed. The "voices" can be the ones on the guest computer, even if XP (compared to Vista) does not offer a good quality.

This application is quite tiny and can be really useful for the ones who are interested in reading (and recording) texts.

For example: if you place it on your mp3 player, you can produce mp3s to listen while you want. Remember to place the Lame DLL in the same folder than DSpeech. :D

#5 Post by donald »

I want to submit the DSpeech PDF Plug-In

developers website http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/index.html

discussion on this website http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... pdf+plugin
To open PDF files, you must download the DSpeech PDF Plug-In (ca 250 KB).
this plugin works as a stand alone just drag the pdf to the app or

??could it use a batch compiled with an app on this site to open pdf's with??

I know this app just works

the only con is the loss of formatting.

1.55.4 is out, but not really sure this is a very necessary update.

· Added the option "Enable Hotkeys" which lets you control DSpeech keyboard even when it is in the foreground.

An update with a little more substance:

· Fixed a defect in the conversion Ogg Vorbis.
· Added the ability to save in AAC Mp4 format.
· Built-in Plug-in for reading PDFs.
· Fix minor.

Could anyone help me figure out these supposed tags that will insert pauses, among other things? I just got this program working and it's going pretty good, but I'd love to be able to add in some pauses. Thank you!

The project has had excellent quality over the years, though I admit 6 is a little high for the false-positive category.
