This program is still active, GPL, cross platform, and has a portable (winpenpack) version.

Usage notes:
  • 1. Make sure to move the INI file from English_users folder into the main folder (overwriting the existing INI). Trying to change it to English internally (I was able to navigate the Italian) was problematic for some reason.
    2. Run program
Unfortunately its not working with Youtube right now, but then neither is Youtube Downloader HD, so I'm thinking there was a recent service change to screw up the various downloader programs out there. Testing out FDM next.

Edit: no luck with FDM either.

YouTube Downloader HD works fine.
Tested xVideoServiceThief too... got an error message trying to download a YouTube video.

Have you tried Video Backup Fusion? It's at V2.2 and seems to be portable and stealth (settings: ViBaFu.ini in application folder).

This program is now up to v2.5. Changelog: http://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog/ ... 92752.html

Edit: the WinPenPack version has not been updated and the Mac client I tested is crashes on opening.

Thanks
Ditto. Thanks Danix.

Good
  • Program seems to work with the video sites I tried. Note that by default it will try to convert the video.
Issues
  • Win7x64 - The program is crashing on me in Win7x64 when I close the options Window, but works fine in WinXP.
  • Could do without the mature websites thing, which really felt like an advertisement for those sites more than anything else. To delete those plugins, goto: \Bin\xVideoServiceThief\plugins.

No problems on my win7x64. Maybe your .dll 's gone bad? :)

Strange. Basically that error means that a function that the program attempts to call is not present in the DLL.

That function is present in msvcr100.dll shipped with the program (in X-xVideoServiceThief\Bin\xVideoServiceThief\Microsoft.VC100.CRT):
Some of the functions in msvcr100.dll
Some of the functions in msvcr100.dll
In addition, xVideoServiceThief.exe doesn't even attempt to call it:
Some functions which xVideoServiceThief.exe calls
Some functions which xVideoServiceThief.exe calls
Copying msvcr100.dll and msvcp100.dll from X-xVideoServiceThief\Bin\xVideoServiceThief\Microsoft.VC100.CRT to X-xVideoServiceThief\Bin\xVideoServiceThief might help. Another potential cure is installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable.

(FYI, the reason for the ridiculous function name is C++ name mangling.)

I tried to start xVideoServiceThief.exe in binary folder and then told that msvcp100.dll missing!
I open Microsoft.VC100.CRT folds Bin \ xVideoServiceThief \ Microsoft.VC100.CRT and find the the missing msvcp100.dll in here!?!

Thanks SYSTEM it works :)

2.5.2 is out, WPP isn't updated yet, but glad to see some of these changes. Still wish the adult stuff was a separate plugin so I could use this on my work machine.

http://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog/ ... 92752.html
January 9th, 2014

Added the possibility to uninstall the adult sites from your system and ignore them (no updates)
Added a new startup parameter "-resetmessages" for display again all the starting messages (welcome window, adults sites request and change-log)
Added a new startup parameter "-showchangelog" for display again the change-log of current version
Fixed bug (Error: Erratic main window centering on startup when more than one monitor was connected)
Fixed bug (Error: Information window was too small)
