Welcome to TPFC ... and thanks for StrokesPlus.StrokesPlus wrote:Thanks for making S+ an official part of the database, guys!
I never knew about this site until it showed up that S+ was getting referrals from here; I've discovered many awesome utilities thanks to you.

@tproli: Yes, quite awesome indeed!
@joby_toss: Will always offer S+ in a portable form.
And as I've stated on the S+ forum, I promise to open source S+ if the time comes when I'm no longer able or willing to maintain it; don't ever want to see it end up like StrokeIt.

Re: StrokesPlus
Hiya folks!
I've added a Beta (more like Alpha!) feature to support Synaptics TouchPads, to allow S+ capture gestures on 2 or 3 fingers down (in addition to the selected Stroke button). I welcome people to test it out and let me know your feedback (in this thread or on the S+ site). I'm sure there will be bugs and compatibility issues with different Synaptics hardware/software, but gotta start somewhere.

Re: StrokesPlus
Finally I managed to make the move from StrokeIt to StrokesPlus. I was using StrokeIt for long years (about 500+ actions) but everything seems working fine.
I also got rid of many leftover apps and did some nifty groupings (e.g. "File Managers" group to handle common actions of file managers) so currently only 80 gestures are suffice.
As for the file size, my StrokeIt directory is about 300KB and StrokesPlus is 1MB (after UPX). Both are quite tiny but StrokesPlus have only about 10 files while StrokeIt have 100+ (actions/gestures are separate files) so StrokesPlus is more compact.
Great software, thanks again.

Re: StrokesPlus
I tried both (StrokeIt and StrokesPlus), is it my imagination? or StrokesPlus's gestures are smoother and thus easier to be recognized and not confused with one another (the similar ones)???
Re: StrokesPlus
I used StrokeIt for years and switched to StrokesPlus about a year or two ago. Both worked fine, but I like S+ better because it's more intuitive and seems to be developed more rapidly (and the developer is more responsive).
What Win version do you use? Perhaps you feel S+ smoother because it has tweaks for latest Win versions.

Re: StrokesPlus
I had no idea -- just came across this two weeks ago and already seeing a lot of use (especially as I've already overloaded by CTRL+SHIFT hotkey set). The website looks great.
The release number v.0.4.1.3 seems to suggest it's an alpha or beta, but this clearly has a long history on the changelog (https://www.strokesplus.net/ChangeLog.txt) so maybe this is just someone that doesn't want to mess about with a that standard 1.0 "first release" approach.
Requirements: Win7 SP1 and .NET Framework 4.8.
Status: Untested. They do list a portable version -- I'll add that to my list of tests.

Re: StrokesPlus
I was really excited about this one so I went ahead and ran a test today. The program unfortunately insists on installing something called "Edge Webview2 runtime", which has to be downloaded from the internet. I didn't try blocking it to see if it was purely something for interfacing with the Edge browser. Was just looking for portability.
Resource usage: 55 megs extracted, roughly 187 with the edge program. 47 megs RAM.
Status: Unclear, appears to be portable, though my test was messed up by that annoying runtime program. Changes to the program after that wrote to StrokesPlus.net.bin. May need to do a follow-up test to make sure.

Re: StrokesPlus
Hi
i did not know about framework 4.8 ,that's a pitty
I have tried on an update w10 sandboxie , it did not install itThe program unfortunately insists on installing something called "Edge Webview2 runtime"
thanks
Re: StrokesPlus
The 'Edgeview runtime' is a Microsoft product see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/micros ... stribution
Re: StrokesPlus
Thanks ... yea I retested and deleted the webview2 software this time and it gets stuck on install. So it's definitely required. As the program includes the installer with the distribution, this probably qualifies as portable, but definitely requires admin privileges (you certainly can't use it on a computer where installation is blocked).Erdeslawe wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 1:17 am The 'Edgeview runtime' is a Microsoft product see: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/micros ... stribution
This isn't entirely without precedent as many tools on our site require the Visual C++ runtimes, but this is the first time I've seen this requirement.
