MuseScore

#1 Post by JohnW »

Although MuseScore is up to v 0.9.3, there is a portable version (v 0.9.2) thanks to the WinPenPack guys (ie X-Launcher apps)

MuseScore is a cross platform WYSIWYG music notation program, licenced under GNU GPL.

Some highlights (from the Home Site):

WYSIWYG, notes are entered on a "virtual note sheet"
unlimited number of staves
up to four voices/staff
easy and fast note entry with mouse, keyboard or midi
integrated sequencer and FluidSynth software synthesizer
import and export of MusicXml and standard midifiles (SMF)
platform independent code, binaries available for Linux and Windows
GNU GPL licenced

MuseScore Portable 1.3 rev 2 here: http://portableapps.com/news/2013-02-28 ... 3-released

Any problem with putting it in the PF DB? Been using it for years, really very useful for starving and/or nomadic musicians ;-)

I've been a heavy user of the standard non-portable version of MuseScore for about a year and a half, first with version 1.2, and now 1.3. While it writes its settings to AppData\Local\MusE and AppData\Roaming|MusE, MuseScore doesn't use the registry unless you associate files with it. Nevertheless, since MuseScore is a Qt-based application, the included Qt libraries place a lot of entries under HKCU/Software/Trolltech and will create them again on the next run if they've been removed, but all Qt-based apps do that.

Not. I remember Tapin Radio did not and there are a couple others qt based apps in the db that do not "write" Trolltech keys to the registry.
