Guys - I have to confess: I'm hooked to Qsel :-) - Pstart is history!

The concept of categories in the launcher has really convinced me, and I have been in contact with the author of this fine program during the past few days, in order to get some things even better.

So watch out for the next version, that won't take long to appear!

Nonono, I won't tell you anything about the changes, patience pls :)

Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,

How does Qsel's Categories differ from pStart's Groups?

Each category is a distinct window, and these windows are not hierarchically connected. For me this is an easier way to have similar progs grouped together, or maybe themes.

My problem in Ptart was that - having accumulated too many portable progs <g> - the tree became so long, despite several subgroups, that I simply didn't find my entries anymore.

Btw, since there is no URL to the program in this thread: you can find the latest version of Qsel here.

Check it out!

Cheers
Chris

A new beta version (1.50b) can be found here.

New features:

* Dummy INI file redirects working directory (with relative path):
When no shortcuts are possible (e.g. flash drive), you can place the EXE and the dummy INI in the root directory, and everything else in a directory of your choice.
* Dummy INI file can also redirect to user dependent application data folder
* Optional "Variable Drive Letter" flag for installation on drives that are not detected as "removable" (e.g. virtual drives, USB hard disks..)
* Environment variable Vdrive inside Qsel shell
* Ini file items to replace command parameters /hide, /cat

More is to come ...

Enjoy
Chris

Thanks!

due to empyric-practical-and so on reasons, we have decided to wait for a stable release before updating the TPFC Database.

BUT... we are very glad if you inform the other users about new betas...

it is important to test them (or simply to know about), if the product is important for the users!

So: thanks again!

version 1.50 final

#10 Post by cmmehl »

@ AlephX - this one is final and stable, not a beta anymore :-)

No major changes since the last beta, except for stability and overhauled helpfiles.

I'm pretty confident that there will soon come exciting new features, and already now I can full heartedly recommend this launcher - I haven't regretted my swap from PStart one single minute.

It's still an amazingly small download (63 kb!!!) - go ahead and get your copy here.

Cheers
Chris
