That's pretty slick.

I have experimented with XAmpp in the past, but it's gigantic compared to TUS.

The Uniform Server - Help a Friend?

#3 Post by usdcs »

I recently began looking at learning how to set up an Apache Server and downloaded The Uniform Server. While looking through the Website and especially the blog, I came across this entry dated June 12th, 2007:
Hire Me? & Donations

To talk about the donations at first, as you all know, i got into an accident at work around April in which a harmed robber shot me with a gun, well around May, my job’s insurance cut off my workers compensation because the store owner didn’t pay his bill so his policy lapsed (still working on that one, might have to sue), so i am still looking for a job that can pay me enough at least to pay my bills and rent.

Donating has been something that i have really being trying to avoid but it seems as we have to go there, since that is what open source lives on. Donations also helped me with the buying of my new PC (thanks to the 3 users who did) and though we are not asking for a million, even though we wont mind that :d, anything helps.

Please if you are in the Atlanta area and looking for staff, in any technical field, please let me know. I can send you my resume, and i am not limited to web development and design alone.
If you are a regular user of the Uniform Server, and you haven't donated yet, this might be a good time to do so.

Regards,
Dan

Uniform Server's up to v3.5, not sure what the differences are yet, but I thought you'd like to know.

v5.1

Lots of changes since the last post. There's also miniServers, which claim to be portable as well:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/miniserver/

Interesting at least to me because it enables Wiki on a Stick, which is essentially the "Portable MediaWiki" I've been hoping for: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Wiki_on_a_stick

Update: "miniserver" now called Uniserver Zero
The Uniform Server is a lightweight server solution for running a web server under the WindowsOS. Less than 10MiB! It includes the latest versions of Apache2, Perl5, PHP5, MySQL5, phpMyAdmin and ... NO INSTALLATION REQUIRED! NO REGISTRY DUST! Just UNPACK and FIRE UP!

Development seems reasonably active:

Old topic update: Uniform Server v11_6_3_ZeroXI released (changelog and download at sourceforge.net /projects/miniserver/files/Uniform%20Server%20ZeroXI/11_6_3_ZeroXI/).
http://sourceforge.net/projects/miniserver/files/Uniform%20Server%20ZeroXI/11_6_3_ZeroXI/ wrote:Uniform Server ZeroXI releases are versions with pre-installed ZeroXI modules producing a standard WAMP (Windows, Apache, MySQL and PHP) server package. After extracting, servers are ready to run either from a USB memory stick or PC. Apart from changing the MySQL password (optional) there is no configuration required.
@webfork: currently this is the official forum topic for Uniform Server, so please remove version info from OP. Thanks. :)

I suspect that's by design, but you might want to reach out to the devs. See the contact page here: http://www.uniformserver.com/
