Folder Menu

#1 Post by hotigris »

http://www.autohotkey.net/~rexx/FolderMenu/ - I think it's cool. No installer, writes settings to a Config.ini in application folder. I use it on a usb drive to easily find favorite folders.

Please supply some information about the program.
The website is apparently in Chinese or Japanese.

I believe I may not be the only person who does not know what this is.

*********************************************************************************
Additionally I believe it uses an XML file

Folder Menu is a folder switching tool.
You can quickly jump to your favorite folders in explorer, open/save dialog or command prompt...and more.
Here's a link to info in English... http://www.autohotkey.net/~rexx/FolderMenu/index.en.htm

Correct... settings written to Config.xml in the application folder.

Folder Menu is a folder switching tool.
It saves settings to config.xml in the main folder after first run.

The main site is a little light on details, but Softpedia gives a little better breakdown:

Well, if someone wants to test this for portability, I'd be happy to write up a clearer description.

Thanks for checking joby, but I'm not doing a good job deciphering this one. As near as I can tell, its a customizable program launcher, but the customizations are less than simple. There's no help file to guide and doesn't seem to be keeping track of recent folders. I'm not sure what the author is trying to do here.

Although most likely abandoned for good Folder Menu still works well under Windows 8.

Note
Folder Menu is a very capable and flexible program- it is well-designed and has lots of options. I am surprised that it hasn't been added to the database.
If middle mouse button is chosen for "Show Menu" it works only on desktop. Other hot keys work everywhere.

The project may be abandoned but the source code is open (written in AutoIt 3) with a GPLv2 license, so perhaps it may come back to life.
