Country Codes

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Country Codes

#1 Post by JohnW »

There is a significant upgrade to Country Codes and I noticed that the search on PFC revealed nothing so here goes ...
Country Codes is a small database of country codes and additional information for more than 250 countries. It displays their location (continent), ISO 3166-1 Alpha 2-3 codes and ISO number as well as IDDD code and flag, NDD Code, Country Dialing Code, FIPS PUB 10-4 and TLD (Top Level Domain) code and the current time in the country, Distinguishing sign, IOC Code, ISO Currency Code and language abbreviation 3-char name. It can also diosplay a Worlsd Map showing location.
A very neat applet.
Version 2.7 is available from the Home Site ...
http://www.izoxzone.com/
It is stated to be portable. And I promise you that you will find it a useful reference source.

Hi John,

I like the program, but unfortunately it writes about 180 settings into the registry...
... and its previous release (2.6) is in the "blak list" of rejected apps... I hoped that the new version worked as portable... nope

That's a real shame but thanks for the info. I must learn how you find out these things one day.
Still a real nice app ... but no cigar

:)
Well, I use a simple and nitty proggy:

In the DB:
http://www.portablefreeware.com/?q=regshot&m=Search

Homepage:
http://regshot.blog.googlepages.com/regshot.html

it´s very simple to use and it is useful to see if and how the register is written...

The first times I had problems to read the report, but I have to see that it´s not so diffucult... it´s me (who has sometimes problems)! :)

 Maybe the moderators can tell more about programs to check if a program writes to the registry...

... and never trust what the soft-authors write... sometimes they have strange ideas about portability...

Search for How do you test the programs to ensure they are portable? under the FAQ page.

RegShot is definitely the first tool I use.
