Re: I need to sort lists in alphabetical order
Notepad2 might be what you are looking for.
How to: Select All (Ctrl + A) then navigate to Edit >> Block >> Sort Lines... and choose ascending or descending, it will also remove duplicate lines. You can also use Alt + O to show the Sort Lines... dialogue box, thus two steps of Ctrl + A and then Ctrl + O. Simple!

Akelpad can do that with use of the Format plug-in:

Re: I need to sort lists in alphabetical order
Thanks to both guinness and Toxteth O'Grady,
But on my system I already run 2 notepads (Metapad as replacement of the default-lousy-Notepad and Notepad++) and I really look for a simple tool which only sorts lists.
I have considered several times adopting a new notepad and the favorite candidate was TedNpad (which also sorts lists like Notepad2 and does a lot more than Metapad, Notepad2 and Akelpad) but -beside the fact that TedNpad lacks on the toolbar front, strange enough I do not manage to save to the .ini the font settings I need (for certain reasons of a specific size and color)... TedNpad just refuses to retain the font settings I want... Did you guys ever try TedNpad?
I will keep looking for something as simple and effective as ListSorter, please try it so you'll get an idea of what I mean with simple list sorter: I really hope that the developer will add the descending sort + the GUI maximizing options... Then AFAIK, that is the perfect list sorter!
Thanks again mates and if you find the time please let me know if you tried TedNpad and ListSorter... Any other suggestion towards a simple list sorter is VERY APPRECIATED
Have a great weekend

If everyone had an internet connection all the time, one of those would probably work.Toxteth O'Grady wrote:How about this:

I use ListSorter occasionally but I normally use Notepad2 and haven't had any problems with organising lists.

In my original post I forgot to mention: "Please do not suggest me any Web-based sorting tool"... My badToxteth O'Grady wrote:How about this:

Maximum portability!
Re: I need to sort lists in alphabetical order
Ah OK, so you already knew/used ListSorter nice little app, isn't it?guinness wrote:I use ListSorter occasionally but I normally use Notepad2 and haven't had any problems with organising lists.
You obviously don't miss the descending sort order and the fact that the GUI cannot be maximized (but try to use it on a Netbook).
Surprisingly "TedNpad" -being both portable and freeware - is not on Portable Freeware.
Re: I need to sort lists in alphabetical order
"TED Notepad" (does a software name get any easier than that?)joby_toss wrote:

How stupid I am to (mis)spell "TedNpad" in the search bar?
Thanks for making me notice that, joby_toss
Re: I need to sort lists in alphabetical order
You did not misspell anything. You searched for the executable's name.
And also, sometimes, the search function does play tricks on us.

That WinF1 Sorter is amazing!
Thanks a million... Just (or actually even better than) what I was looking for
Just out of curiosity, who is the developer of that AutoHotKey nugget? I Googled "WinF1 Sorter" and "PBRS" but I don't get any hits... Any homepage?
Thanks again

Re: I need to sort lists in alphabetical order
I knocked it up ages ago for my own use.
When I red your post, I compiled it.
Glad it does what you want.
