Unknown Devices
I think it is known, but I have not seen a submission for this yet.
From the home page:
Unknown Devices helps you find what those unknown devices in Device Manager really are.
By checking Device Manager for unknown devices and extracting information from it, this program attempts to figure out what the device is. You might not have to open your case or look up random numbers off of PCI cards to figure out what they are.
Program supports Win95, 98, 98se, Me, 2k, XP and 2003 but not NT. It also attempts to support future OSes.
It runs fine from a CD or floppy. It's free for personal and (especially) business use. The program contains no adware, spyware, malware, popups, or whatever is the latest name for junk software.

download: http://www.halfdone.com/Development/Unk ... evices.zip
Download updated devices list: http://members.datafast.net.au/dft0802/ ... cidevs.txt
(note, for some reason the pcidevs.txt that came in the zip file did not come up properly, but the updated list worked well)
Installation:
Download zip file and updated pcidevs.txt
Extract UnknownDevices.exe from the zip file and put it and the pcidevs.txt in the same directory, and run.
Portability:
Tested with RegFromApp and Depends. No registry settings, no .NET, no files created that I could find (nothing in appdata, windows or temp directories)

Go catfish go
Thanks. I updated the link on the site to SIV. I haven't been able to work on the application in a while and I've switched to the IT field. I do hope to finish that beta version though.
I actually created chpsdevs.txt myself, but it's mostly from
memtest86+'s code.

Re: Unknown Devices
Sadly pcidevs.txt hasn't been updated since 2008 and chpsdevs.txt is not available at that location anymore (http://www.bhtproject.org redirects to bootzilla)juliyaanthony wrote:Thanks Man..guinness wrote:Download the following files (see below) and then drop onto the .ZIP file named DeviceLists.zip to update the files contained in the .ZIP file.

It's a bit round-about but if you download the iso of bootzilla, and explore it using an ISO explorer (such as 7-zip) you'll be able to get the chpsdev.txt from 11/27/2009

Re: Unknown Devices
Updated post! Shame no one has voted for Unknown Devices!
Re: Unknown Devices
I swear my votes don't get posted (I voted for it, popularity score stayed the same :'( )
Re: Unknown Devices
No your votes are being counted. See http://www.portablefreeware.com/scorelist.php?id=1840, it does take a little while for the system to update. Thanks for voting.
Re: Unknown Devices
