Open Office

#2 Post by FlightGeek »

Portable Open Office has direct PDF output and is loaded with features.

Disclaimer: I have never been a fan of lobotomized payware masquerading as freeware.

I see they advertise this as totally portable now but I still get entries at HKCU\Software\Nativewinds.

Is there some option I'm not seeing?

Nope, don't see it with RegShot. I tried creating a simple document, saving it, exit, then loading it again, then exit. It's clean.

What you the reg entries that you see created/updated?

*Tomahawk PDF+ v2.8 (portable)

#7 Post by AlephX »

http://www.nativewinds.montana.com/soft ... fplus.html
Latest changes to Tomahawk PDF+ v2.8:

Added Korean language to user interface.
Improved handling of foreign character sets.

Changed the variable for printing the number of total pages. Before, if you specified for page numbers to start at 3 and you had 8 pages total, &p of &P would show the last page as 10 of 8. That has been corrected so that it will now display as 10 of 10 with 8 total pages and a starting page number of 3.

New Header/Footer variables, 'i' (current page) and 'I' (Total Pages): will display page numbers as Roman Numerals. ie: Page &i of &I would display 'Page VI of XII' if the current page is 6 and total pages is 12.

New 'Quick Format Painter' (Ctrl+Q) - works similar to the one in MS Word. (See Example.tmd included with this download.)

Improved look of menu - adapts to XP styles when present.

Fixed problem with images not loading correctly when opening html files
that used '%20' in the path names.

Due to recent requests, Tomahawk PDF+ is completely portable now and usable on a USB stick. True?

Does not store program settings to the registry.

A. Spell check options are stored in file named 'Spell.cfg'
B. Language Setting is stored in file named 'TPdfPlus.lng'
C. Most recently used files are stored in file named 'TPdfPlus.ini'

As Mixture pointed out, the nativewinds website has gone offline. I've grabbed the Tomahawk PDF http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=71 program, anticipating it'll need a mirror.

Edit: Mirror posted:

Topic update: Tomahawk PDF+ last release is v3.1.0 from 2011-12-29 (available changelog at https://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog ... 19918.html)

Smaragdus Tomahawk PDF+ mirrors above are offline. Did anyone happen to grab those files?

Ugh, no I evidently didn't save a local copy. I dumped my dropbox account years ago because the service was so problematic.

EDIT: Majorgeeks seems to be working: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/detail ... k_pdf.html ... it appears to include both the dictionary and thesaurus, which were separate downloads.

Good, but Smaragdus mirrors were for the older v2.7.6.

I haven't tested any of it, but I hazily recall some functionality being removed and just wanted to make sure.

Anyway, I doubt they'll be missed all that much.
