AudioGrabber Portable
[Mod note: the present is the official forum topic for AudioGrabber; https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=528]
AudioGrabber: A Portable Version of the AudioGrabber program
With AudioGrabber you can Rip off Music from CDs and Convert them to OGG or MP3. With the integrated "freedb" Button you can automatically retreive the ID3v1 Tags from well known Discs.
The Program is portable, as long as you do not change the Path for the ripped File because you can't select relative Paths in the App and as long as you do not use external MP3 encoders. If you like to change the Save Path, do it in the INI File Manually.
Writes settings to: Application Folder .ini File
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice.
Stealth: Yes
License: Freeware
Depends On: CD-Rom Drive
Download: http://ayra.ch/apps/?show=68 (To download click the Title of the Entry)

Re: AudioGrabber Portable
This program was the ONLY ripper tool back in 2000. Was a huge fan.
The bad:
Unless someone's updated it (home page http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/ says otherwise), this is very out of date now and just can't compare with CDex or Bonkenc. Both have the latest and probably much faster encoders for most formats, as well as being able to overcome copy protection and handle the latest hardware.
The good:
It does some things other programs don't:
Still, downloading a modified version from ayra.ch? Who put this together and how?

From: http://download.cnet.com/Audiograbber/3 ... 16038.htmlThe line-in-sampling function can automatically split recordings from LPs into separate tracks and use a noise-reduction plug-in from Algorithmix. It also can schedule recordings if you, for example, want to record a radio show when you're not home.
Still, downloading a modified version from ayra.ch? Who put this together and how?
Re: AudioGrabber Portable
The only thing I liked about this App back 9 years ago was the Addams Family hand! I would favour CDex over AudioGrabber due to the fact it is still being updated and improved.
Re: AudioGrabber Portable
I Like the Feature, that AudioGrabber can convert to OGG Format too, and that it can get the correct ID3v1 Tags from an Internet Database, I've configured it to do it automatically and the Output File Path is now relative, so also the ripping process is some Sort of Portable.
CDex i don't know. I'll have a look at this soon.

In reference to the Audiograbber comment about forced adware:
I've confirmed it's existence and modified the entry, but this thread says that it's possible to skip http://www.audiograbber.org/community/4 ... -prevented ... Kapersky thread seems to corroborate this: http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=257771

Re: AudioGrabber Portable
AudioGrabber is severely outdated, I'd really advise you to either use CueTools (https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2085) or Exact Audio Copy (https://portableapps.com/node/5583 + http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) instead.
Foobar2000 (https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=184) is also an option which I have never used -- it has a a guide at http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?ti ... foobar2000.

Re: AudioGrabber Portable
Confirmed. Should add that this is extremely rare -- I've had maybe a handfull of programs go this route in the past 12 years -- and very unwelcome for a program I was very fond of. I've added a notice to the entry. Fortunately Softpedia is not hosting the latest version so I'm pointing to them for the moment. I'll keep my copy of the program on-hand in case that changes.
Anyway, great catch giulia.
