Diagnostic tools for USB keys

#1 Post by Sydney2K »

My USB key went belly up on me tonight, but fortunately I lost little data, as I backed it up today. I was wondering though, is there any diagnostic tools to test USB keys, to determine their integrity, especially if you have been using one for awhile? It'd be nice to regularly test my keys, and make doubly sure I have backed my data up if one looks iffy.

try this:
USB Memory Stick Tester is a small application designed to help testing removable storage media (such as USB memory sticks) for defects
Operating System: WinXP
License: GNU General Public License (GPL)

hope this helps

Thanks for the tip- I've tried it out on several 'suspicious' USB flash keys and confirmed their unusability.
