Clipboard to Print utility

I finally found it! A clipboard to print utility so I can print from programs that don't have print capabilities, like my Mempad (https://portablefreeware.com/?id=889), whose only flaw, imo, was a lack of print capability.

Installation:
Unzip the files using the self-extracting executable. Then use universal extractor to extract the files from clip.cab. Setup.exe creates Start menu files and a few registry keys.
Uses VB6 dlls (included), but the other files seem to be standard WinXP dlls, so they should not have to be registered with regsvr32.
Delete setup.exe and st6unst.exe

I used Sandboxie (hope I am accurate in this) to determine that if the setup.exe is not run, it creates no file or registry settings.

Note: This utility uses the Lucida Console font if found to guarantee monospacing.

I have been looking for a way to print utility so that i could print from programs which do not have print capabilities.

I am faced with: runtime error 339

Component comdlg32.ocx or one of its dependancies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

Interesting to note i am using a junker computer bought new but junk because of vista

Clip2Print has one dialog box (choosing the printer to print to).

This might be tricky, but you here is a guess--re-egistration of ocx and dll files probably requires admin access. This is a one-time thing, and if vista works like xp, it should be

1. log on with local admin access
2. locate the file comdlg32.ocx (probably in the windows system32 directory)
3. run regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx

This *might* do it. Otherwise play with a dependency walker.

(note: also try to run it with admin access--this might give a clue)

@Donald that warning comes up the first time you run rougeremover too.

To fix this right click the exe and run it as admin (this should only be necessary the first run)

if after the first run you still get this make the exe always run as admin

In the zip file is the clip2print executable (original name clip.exe but I have two other files with that original name) plus a pdf image of the netadmintools web page, and attribution is there as well as the statement that it is freeware.

If anyone has a better location, given that netadmintools no longer carries the executable, I will upload it there instead.

As of today the links given in Cornflower's Aug 31, 2007, post work. Here's what I did:

Made a new folder "Clip" on my desktop. Went to http://www.netadmintools.com/art346.html and clicked on Clip.exe 1.0 to download and save it into the "Clip" folder on the desktop.

Open the "Clip" folder and double click "clip.exe" to run it. Three icons appear. Double click "setup.exe" to install the Clip program.

To run it go to Start, All Programs and look for NetAdminTools.com Clipboard Printer. Click there to bring up a window which describes how to use the app. It says

"Simply minimize this box, and it will go into
the system tray. If you want to print the
text on the clipboard, simply click
the icon in the system tray. To close
the program, right-click, and select exit."

The program seems to work well for me with XP SP2.

This is really good news. Thanks, Romeo, for the update.

Note, however, if you run the Clip.exe, you extract clip.cab and setup.exe. If you then run setup.exe, the program ceases to become stealth, and it selff registers 7 DLLs, all of which are standard in Win2000 or above (app was written in VB6)

To make portable and stealth this application, you may do one of the following.

a) Run clip.exe to extract the setup files. Run setup.exe, then copy clip.exe to a directory of your choice, and then remove the program using add/remove programs.

b) run clip.exe to extract the setup files and * delete everything but clip.cab *. Use uniextract or any extractor that can handle .cab files to extract the files from clip.cab. Delete everything but clip.exe. No registry entries are created nor cleanup needed.

* Note especially that this excellent utility as packaged for download on NetAdminTools.com and the final executable are both named clip.exe, hence the instruction to delete extraneous files if you do a manual install.
